As a fellow Dutchman also no longer living in The Netherlands I heavily enjoy your lectures and your distinct thick Dutch accent when speaking helps me understand the material way better for some odd reason but when I watch these non-physics videos it's like a nice old man who could've very well been like my own grandpa is speaking to me in English about various things. "I started teaching physics at age 16." Well, that was my age when I first fell in love with physics as a high-school senior (I loved chemistry while growing up, and my first love was math, from pre-school age). Although that affinity really took off a year later, as a freshman at university, thanks to a wonderful physics professor (at one of your school's rivals, CMU), as I sense you are. Now I don't know beans about Quora. But having just watched your Mar. 15 "goodbye Quora" and now this one, I feel 100% you have made the right decision. We call these things - math, physics, chemistry - sciences, which they certainly are (actually math isn't strictly; it's the language, the backbone, of science). But there is an inescapable element of art in all of them, and this fact should receive more recognition. For without imagination, and occasional, well-directed flights of fancy, one can't make advances in these fields; nor even learn them thoroughly. So any forum that doesn't recognize that, can only stifle the best methods of learning these subjects, and when there are plenty of much better outlets, why waste time on one that is, in any way, crippled? I wish you many, many more years of spreading the knowledge!

I started watching your lectures when I was 16. That was four years ago. You did not just teach me physics but taught the physics to see the world through. Currently I am doing my undergraduate degree in Bristol and it is all thanks to you. If it weren't for your passion in physics that rippled to me, I wouldn't have had the guts to go against all odds to fight to study physics as it is not a respected field back home. Thank you sir, it was truly an honour to learn from you.

From the beginning of my university studies I learned physics from your lectures. Compared to the lectures of my university - yours gave me much more understanding. I see that you are replying to the comments, so I feel that I have a great opportunity to say thank you almost in personal. With your help physics became to me much easier for understanding. Also, thank you for teaching me the skills of comprehensible interpretation of things. That helped me being a T.A. in physics. Thank you professor!

Dear Mr Lewin. Thank you for your outstanding lectures. I teach 'high school' students and they love physics too but it is always good to see great teaching to try and improve one's own and keep pupils loving physics - we are so lucky to teach this subject and can destroy it if we do it badly and enthral all if we get it right!
