One question, is there a problem set associated with this lecture?

When you take the inverse tan of 1, to get π/4 radians, why are the other points on a tan graph ignored? Surely it could just as easily be 5π/4, or 9π/4, etc.

True, but for complex numbers the principal argument is from -Pi to +Pi

@@drjohnsmith5282 fair point, I still feel like that should have been mentioned though, because, it could have been -3π/4 then

@@ben-smith-music also remember that out original question was in the first quadrant. He did itterate this point earlier in the vudeo. Here, should you have looked at both results you would/should consider this . If you put arg(z) is 3\pi/4 and looked at that angle it would be in the wrong quadrant.

Dear Eddie, why do you say cos(π/4)=1√2? And the same with sin (π/4)? Doesn't cos & sin of π/4 = √2/2 ?

1/sqrt(2) = sqrt(2)/2. They are equal, sqrt(2)/2 is just the rationalised version of 1/sqrt(2) where you multiply top and bottom by sqrt(2)

I do not understand the written form of tangent Is tan^-1 = to the inverse function cotanget Or is = 1 / tan
@agilkhalil856

tan(arctanx)=x

Yeah, that's unfortunate terminology. Tan inverse and arctan are the same thing which is NOT the same as the reciprocal of the tangent function (cotangent).
