No she's in the bargaining phase. She wants her family to continue on the same way it is now after she dies. That is perfectly natural and normal to want. So she is essentially bargaining that her sister will step in to be her after she dies. The husband and sister are more than likely friends and will stay close but it's not really fair to post posthumously guilt trip your sister into marrying your husband so she can try and be your clone. She's basically using this fantasy to make her feel more comfortable with dying and having her family move on and as is most likely bring a stranger into it who will be raising her kids.

My grandmother died young, she was 45 and had 4 children. My grandmother asked her sister to look after her kids, my mum and her siblings. My nannan (my great aunt) was an incredible women. She had no children of her own, but she was the greatest mother to my mum and us the grandchildren. She was beloved. She married my grandad just before he died, so she had the same last name as her 'children'. This on the outside seems weird. But we loved her, and she's been gone over ten years now, she died surrounded by her step children, grand children, loved and cared for by her son in laws. We miss her every day (it's been 15 years since she left us) Like I say it's odd on the outside, but her greatest achievement was the love and home she created for her sisters children, and I'm sure her sister was so proud of her for doing it.

It was very common in the past for a man to remarry his late wife's sister. It seems like in a lot of cases, the sister would move in to help look after her nieces and nephews and then end up married to her late sister's widower. AITA story: OP needs to sue the crap out of his two sisters and BIL's for the income they made using his property without his permission. Also for any damage done to the property after securing it (such as broken locks) and harassment. Then, assuming they all realize just how screwed they truly are and admit defeat, allow them to pay a fraction of the amount they made from the rentals. But that likely wouldn't happen, which means they'd wind up in front of a judge, who in turn would rip the four of them apart for just how entitled and stupid they've been acting, especially when hearing about how the BIL's tried to insist that OP pays for the phones and refunding the rental guests. Also, OP should formally trespass the four of them from the property, so if they are still sneaking on there and OP catches them, they can get arrested and learn just how in the wrong they are.

The first story is honestly really bittersweet 😢. Op obviously has a very kind soul and I hope she passes away in peace. The second story however was HILARIOUS!!!!

I haven't really done any pool parties since the time when people started carrying cell phones 24/7, but the first thing I would do is store my phone far away from any water.

I absolutely understand the first OP.. I get it, I really do. I hate that by the time I'm posting this she is no longer on this planet.. I think what she's hoping for is beautiful and also a curse.. l and I hope it happens as well.. Omgosh I'm in tears listening to that story.. Breaks my heart... Blessings to you OP, wherever you are ❤

The first story is really wholesome that the wife can see that her sister would treat her husband properly and her husband would treat her sister properly and everything to make a good couple. One sad thing though is that we'll never get to figure out the conclusion of this story because the person writing the story is the one who's going to die. Maybe OP should tell her husband to update us after lol jk

Story 2 I feel like the in-laws have one of three options: 1) shut up, take the L and leave OP alone 2) play nice and work out a deal, it's OP's property so even if OP doesn't "need the money" it's their property so you have to bargain with them. At the very least if they are going to be allowed to continue to rent out the place OP is entitled to a HUGE cut of the profits. 3) Continue to wine and moan and risk OP suing them for everything they've illegally made off of the property.

About the first story: In Judaism marrying your late wife's sister is actually encouraged and considered a good deed. This is because an aunt will generally love her nieces/nephews like a mother.

I feel like the more entitled parents we have that could care less about how their own kids behave, the more we will have more people not wanting to have kids. Its kinda related to the pool story.

The first story I see it as OP wanting her husband and sister to be happy and showing them that it would be ok if they got together. It just shows that OP cares so much for both of them after shes gone. OP didnt have the steps of gref! Just acceptance of them getting together if they choose to.

So, I want to comment on pool part. I am a lifeguard and it is so common for parents to not pay attention to their kids even if they can’t swim. At my pool we have a rule that if your kid is under a certain age you have to be in arms reach or them, but if they are above that in a different range you have to be in the water with them. We have had parents leave the pool over this rule that is saying be a good parent and pay attention to your kids. It’s incredible how many parents let their kids do anything while they just sit in the hot tub or sunbathe. Again many of these kids can’t swim. And for an argument against it, the lifeguards are watching right? We are, but when their are 100+ kids in the pool it’s hard to pick out one who happens to be drowning when 10 others are doing something we don’t allow at the pool.

For story one, I know a lot of people who would hold back from this relationship because it can feel disrespectful. But when you love the people in your life, you want to see them happy. OP wants to see her husband and sister move on, possibly together. I think that's sweet and selfless.

Funny thing in the pool story, they said Op should “refined their guests money” even though it’s the exact opposite since the Father gave Op that house since his daughters are being entitled.

Before my mom died of pancreatic cancer in 1991, she sat my brother and I down and told us that she told my dad that she wanted him to remarry, so that our younger sister would have a mom. I was 20 and my brother 18, our sister was 10. He did find someone a year later, and they've been together since. Because my mom had let everyone know her wishes, there was no drama at all.

I really like the way that your mom handled the situation. She removed the guilt for your dad if he got lonely and decided to marry again. She also removed the guilt from you and your siblings if you ever had the opportunity to have another mother figure in your lives. Your mother sounds like she was a very caring person. I'm not quite sure if OP did the same thing for her husband. What if he doesn't want the sister but decides he wants someone else? Is he going to feel guilty for choosing someone not approved by his late wife? If he does end up with the sister, is he going to feel guilty that his feelings towards the sister were so obvious to his dying wife?

In the last story. OP. The owner of the mountain cabin can actually sue and press charges against his sisters for what they did. It's called theft by deception. OP was ok with his siblings using it and going there with friends. Not for them to rent it out to total strangers and pocket the cash.

I think the first story has a lot of positivity. Seems like she is securing piece of mind for when she's gone: -Someone good enough to fill in the hole of her passing -Someone good for her husband -Someone that will truly care for the kids Instead of rolling the dice and get who knows what near your kids. This decade, it seems like mutilating kids' genitalia is a thing.

Story 2: Hey man, if kids are going to try to push you into a pool and you sidestep them, lesson learned for the kids. 🤷 Parents have to learn to control their children, if they don't then their kids end up in a pool plain and simple. Can't be mad at Op wanting to stay dry, anyone would want to stay dry in that situation. 16:56 Staying no contact with them seems like the best idea. 👀

Great episode today. I feel so sorry for the parents in the second story. They don't deserve any of this drama. (Neither do OP and his wife.) Ended up with similar issues with my BIL and his wife. My BIL is crazy smart and a computer whiz. He graduated in '73, so he would have been on the ground floor of the Tech Age. He has a Bachelor's Degree in computer science. But, he's pretty much a slacker. When he was in his 20s, my MIL would find a job opening that fit his skills and resume. She'd call the hiring manager, and if they said "Yes, he's exactly what we need! Have him apply!" she'd tell BIL. He would get upset, and would never apply. He had his little job as a clerk in a rental store, and a fantasy that he'd end up owning it. Reality check: The owner had two sons, who worked in the business, and even if offered my BIL could never have bought into the business because he was less than broke. My SIL (the less said about her, the better) was a teacher, so great benefits, lousy salary. And when she wanted something, they bought it. 'nuff said. I tried so hard to get along with BIL. I liked him, we shared some interests like hunting and computers, and I never had a brother. Unfortunately, this was the guy who, when I said totally joking "It's okay- everybody needs an idiot BIL to tell stories about, and we're that to each other" he blew up, and I thought we were going to get in a fistfight. (FYI this was right after he had a Kevin moment.) When my FIL passed (MIL passed before my wife and I met) and the estate was settled, they went very low contact. Which was fine, except for never having a relationship with my nephew. 25 or so years later (31 years married), we own my wife's childhood home. Not being stupid with money got us through the tough times, and we're far from wealthy, but comfortably retired. BIL and SIL live with her spinster sister, and BIL will probably have to work until he passes away. 🙁
