If you're Christian and this stuff doesn't happen in your neck of the woods, great. It still exists though
@johnlockelmao4238
8 ай бұрын
@@TonySamedi Generally, I would agree that “dating” relationships are invalid relationships. If there is no covenant between two people then their relationship is rendered null. As for the virginity claim, God calls Christians to be celibate until marriage, this doesn’t mean if you fail, that you are doomed to being unwed, simply means that there has to be a level of repentance, followed by actual obedience to the command. Say you have a man or woman who has slept with 3 people in their life, so long as he repents and remains celibate until marriage, there shouldn’t be an issue with the church there.
@johnlockelmao4238

@@TonySamedi I don’t think dating is “bad” as much as it is simply not a true relationship in the eyes of God. But for the not religious it is important to guide people towards marriage. He was only the 3rd funeral I had EVER been to in my 25 almost 26 years on this earth. The first being an ex's grandparents funeral. I'm editing to add: the average person who was raised poor doesn't take 3 MONTHS off from work to TRAVEL. I was raised poor. Some nights I didn't have food on the table. Only time I got new clothes was when my grandmother would get them and I immediately had to pass on my other clothes. It sucked. I had shoes that had holes and were falling apart. That stuff pisses me off like no other.

Story 1: it's called coercion. its where you beg someone for something and you finally give in to shut them the fuck up despite your own thoughts and feelings. It is a crime in some places, do not give in to someone's pressure despite your own feelings, you will regret it and feel like you can never say no

That last guy is why some women are so jaded. Guys, if you're dating a woman, then LISTEN to her cues. Learn what she likes, and understand that you're not going to like everything she does and vice versa. You may think 10,000 pairs of shoes is ridiculous, but women think $10k worth of gaming stuff is ridiculous many times. She might be thinking "why get the $200 controller when a $50 controller will do the same? don't we have more important things to prioritize?". Yes, some frugal women exist. Examples of what to listen for: - "I really liked that [event/place] we went to" - "this stuff [feels/smells] so good" - "I hate the [feel/smell/appearance] of..." - "I used to enjoy..." - "I can't seem to find..." - "I remember when..." She won't tell you straight out what she wants, but if you pay close attention to certain cues, you can figure out what she likes. Or just be like Daffy Duck and wonder why she doesn't like your gifts. *whoosh*

The last part of Story 2 got me a little nostalgic for the first time I ever did Secret Santa. Just before we drew names I heard one coworker mention that he and his wife had just bought a new Xbox, and when I drew his name, a huge lightbulb flashed in my mind. I did a little window shopping and learned that none of the Xbox systems were backwards compatible with each other, and I also saw a plan B option for if plan A didn’t work out. The next time I worked with that coworker, I learned that it was a Xbox One and he didn’t have any games for it yet. I was able to mask it as friendly chatter by saying that I had an original Xbox and I mentioned a few of the games I liked playing on it. A few days later I’m at a used game store and I almost immediately see the perfect thing: a game that was ~$18.50 (we were told not to spend more than 20) and was a game I heard many people say was one of the best games released in the previous year. On Christmas Eve, everyone gets together to exchange gifts, and when I give my coworker his he gets all emotional and hugs me and is saying oh my gosh and no way over and over again

That last story is just baffling. This guy is so insecure with money it’s crazy. “I’m looking for someone to buy a house with and combine savings with.” This translates to “I wanna be with someone who can buy a house FOR ME and then I can leach off the savings they have because it’ll be THEIR money in a JOINT bank account”. Good luck trying to keep someone around with this arrangement. The awareness is at 0 here 😂

First Story: NTA. Trying to push kinks on your partner and refusing to listen when they tell you "I'm not comfortable with that" is extremely gross and out of touch of the relationship. It's good they were able to fix this. But that initial post was really gross.

Cheater story: You’re not going to believe it. As soon as this story ended, a PS5 ad came on, the coincidence is uncanny. Good for OP to “finally,” wake up and see him for what he truly is, a waste of time. I’m glad she has a great little brother.

Honestly? It’s really nice sometimes to hear about couples who talk openly and honestly, listen to each other, are reasonable and find their way through without resentment or hurt or anger and are just better off for it. I’m not saying a channel focused on this would be successful (for some reason, we tend to find it grossly saccharine after a while) but it’s still just really, really good to be reminded about how healthy and happy relationships should look.

I feel for the friends in the birthday story. It is a sad fact of life that having a close friend who gets into a relationship with someone else can be pretty painful... Especially if you're someone who doesn't have many friends and are relying on them for company and such and suddenly you find yourself tossed in the backburner But such is life, I guess

Tbh, for the last story I was originally on the boyfriend's side. I really hate the idea of giving someone something and then holding them to a lofty goal that you set. Then, when she explained how he never really got her anything?! Yeah, no. What a jerk. I hated how he squashed her feelings as materialistic as it's clearly evident that gift giving is her love language. I'm right there with her! I love the look on people's faces when I make or find things they love but there's a friend I never give gifts to because whenever my birthday or the holidays come around he messages me that he's planning on getting me something when his finances get better. After a few years of that, I just stopped. I'm the type of person who keeps Walmart cards with just someone's name signed for years and put any picture given on the fridge and he knows that.

Pegging story: Sex is one thing between a couple that needs to be completely consensual by both parties. If one of the partners does not want to do something, that should be taken as a hard stop. UPDATE: It seems the conversations had some positive results. Best wishes! PS5 story: Bullet dodged. Just block him and don't look at anything he's posting. Birthday story: NTA! I can understand both points of view here, but it sounds like they need some improvements in their communications. UPDATE: OP, your fiancé is a keeper. Vacation pictures story: OP, it sounds to me that your bf doesn't even have the capacity to think of a thoughtful gift or to take your "likes" into consideration. This will never change. You may want to think about changing bf's. UPDATE: Well I don't think it was appropriate asking for a gift back that you had already given him, but as far as breaking up, very appropriate.

So my mom does occasionally ask for up to date family portraits and the like for gifts so there are some parents/grandparents out there that would love the vacation photo book as a gift. Especially if they don't get to visit or see you very often. However one should not assume that everyone in your life would want that as a gift.

The last story: It's werid that she says he can be cheap because he grew up poor and doesn't ever want to be that way again but yet he has no problem spending money on a 3 month vacation and doesn't have any savings. I get that guys can be terrible at gift giving especially if you don't say what you like and you dont. My ex once gave me a birthday card that he didn't even sign or but in the envelope. He didn't know any better till I told him and the next year he actually made me a birthday card that I loved! He was broke so he couldn't buy me anything but I didn't care because it was the thought that counted and that card meant more than anything he could have bought. On the other hand: I think she started out spending a lot of money on him and she shouldn't have assumed he was gonna do the same especially when they didn't agree on how much money to spend on each other. I did notice when she said she wanted jewelry she didn't say it had to be anything expensive. He could have gone to a Meijer or ordered something personalized online for about $50 for Christmas but instead he made excuses why he wouldn't do that like he doesn't like to go to jewelry stores, she has enough already, and he isn't comfortable with spending a lot and tried to make it sound like she was a gold digger for asking for jewelry. Personally, think she just wanted something she could wear that was from him and after being together for a few years I don't think that was too much to ask for. The nicest thing I ever got from a bf was one of those $50 open heart necklaces that use to be so popular every Christmas (It was after being together for a few years and I had dropped plenty of hints I wanted it) .I only wore it on special occasions because I didn't want the little chain on the necklace to break and it meant a lot to me to get something like that. He decided after a year of me having it that he thought I didn't deserve it and took it back and gave it to his teenage sister (which broke my heart). About 2 yrs after that, he gave me the heart back (without the chain) tarnished. He had found it on the floor of his Mom's house after his sister had moved out. He thought I'd want it back since his sister obviously didn't care about it. I think that hurt almost as much as him taking it away and giving it to her. I never understood why he thought it would be ok to take it from me and give it to someone else.

I also think that jewelry makes a wasteful gift. Fortunately, my wife feels the same. She even says that if I ever get her flowers, it's divorce time. We see eye to eye on "display only" type items.

Story 1: not that it matters since this has an update, but NTA. It never OK to coerce your partner into anything they don't want to do, especially sexual stuff. Story 2: Good for OP, glad it ended all happy. Story 3: again, not that it matters with the updates, but NTA; if the friends really cared about the boyfriend, they would have had OP in on the plans from the beginning being his fiancée. Glad it worked out and the friends know they were wrong. Story 4: I get that some people are bad at giving gifts, I am one of them, but it is very clear he's just a cheapskate. And being poor as a kid isn't a reason, it's an excuse.

Last story: I'm a horrible gift buyer when it comes to xmas bdays etc. I do act generous towards my friends and try to be there when needed but gifts are not my jazz, I do not expect them but I try still be a gifter if I have the means. Also I despice jewelry from the jewelry stores and find it unethical. That being said, I'm in a serious relationship with a person who loves jewelry and they are kind of materialistic in ways I'm not and have never been. That's just the way they are and if I don't approve I could break things off, but it's nothing sort I'd need to intervene with, just their jam. BUT I still go out of my way to buy them beautiful gifts I think they'd like, jewelry that they can wear to remind them of our commitment to each other cause that's how they like it. To gift a lazy gift just for the formalities of giving a gift is imo worse than just not getting one, and for me this isn't even a lazy gift its just plain bad gift which I can't find reason anyone besides maybe the parents would want to have.
