Hi Simon,Been offered a new one for a decent price,Do you still like yours and will it be fine for winter? Was going to get a Quilt but think this price is to good to resist?What you think?

hi mate, I sort of regret not getting a quilt as this was over £300 and I've since had my eye on UGQ because of lightness (i took this on the C2C walk). Having said that its an excellent bit of kit but probably not quite warm enough for the depths of winter. Many thanks for watching and commenting mate :) also £180 is a good price just about

@@SimonOutdoors Yeah its a decent price for it but just sold my bag to get a Quilt haha. I'll be getting Cumulus 450 custom if I do get one. Just over £400 for it.

I've been converted to a quilt and use the Z-packs 20F (-6°c) quilt, it was pricey at about $319 (£250ish) and a somewhat hefty customers fee but it weighs under 500g and is an absolute dream!

Thanks for this, Simon. I've seen your comments regarding the Bandit quilt, which is very relevant to me as I am currently deciding between said quilt and the exact sleeping bag you're reviewing here. Did you buy the quilt in the end? If so, how does it fare compared to this bag? And how tall are you? Are you a side sleeper?
@SimonOutdoors

Hi Tom, side sleeper yes. I didn't buy the quilt, I think I would find them too cold to be honest. I'm 6'5, and a cold sleeper! Which one are you leaning towards Tom?

@@SimonOutdoors The bag, for the exact same reasons. I've noticed that it's mostly American's using quilts. I am not sure we have the weather for it tbh. I'm 6'1 and a cold side sleeper. Those Bandit quilts look great, they really do, but being practical I think a sleeping bag is better suited to my sleeping style and our weather. Edit: And thanks for getting back to me! Top man.

@@TomCashTV no worries mate, just ask if you have any more queries. I don't profess to be an expert but I might be able to help! I think quilts also work for people who have a bigger waist so I'm not too far off! Cheers, Si

I've used the Rab Neutrino 200 for 3 years in spring and summer on long distance walks and have total confidence in it. For insurance against freezing temps I carry down trousers and jacket which also are my camp clothes rather than carry a heavier weight bag. Like you say Rab are the experts in this field and I will wait until they make a quilt version before I buy one because I want to give those a try out of curiosity :-) For winter though I don't mess about and carry a UK proof Montane Alpanist which is a fantastic bag :-)

@@SimonOutdoors yeah for the dead of winter in seriously cold weather say in the Cairngorms of Scotland or other parts of Northern Europe you need to be cacconed inside a sleeping bag! Lowest temp I've ever camped in is below -18 and every bit of warm air counts and you don't want any escaping from the side of a quilt! But I still want to try one out on a long distance trail in milder conditions. I'll check out the one you have talked about, thanks!👍🍺

@@SimonOutdoors i don't have a Lanshan tent but a SMD Lunar Solo which I used for the first time on the Pennine Way in July. It's a great ultra lite single wall tent and served me well on the trail! My previous backpacking tent and very capable in winter conditions too is the Terra Nova Polar Lite 2 Micro but it's more than twice the weight of the SMD though. I love that tent, they don't make it anymore and it's priceless to me now!
