I don't really comment often anywhere but thank you for having a full transcript and all of your sources ready and easily accessible. It's because bigots are engaging in rationalizing, not reasoning. Reasoning looks at the facts and conducts further experiments to reach a conclusion, rationalizing assumes the conclusion and cherry-picks the data to try and justify said conclusion. It's the same thing young earth creationists engage in when the Gish gallop, it's all about throwing out as many 'justifications' for their pseudoscientific viewpoint rather than looking at the science as a collective body, a whole.

The part about "virtue signalling" is so on point. The term sounds like it would come marginalized communities, like it would describe people like Rachel Oates, only ever calling themselves an ally or demonstrating some bare minimum allyship to score points, either without actually caring or, far worse, with ill intentions and incredibly bigoted opinions. And yet, it's only ever used that way on accident. Far too often, it's used to describe genuine allies, or as you mentioned, *actual members of such marginalized communities*. It is such a weird experience to get called a "virtue signaler" for things like saying "trans rights" as a trans person… and sure enough, it's something I did get the displeasure of going through. It's so frustrating because it's commonly used by many people, and calling people out for this sort of shit isn't fun, to put it mildly. Especially when some of those people already consider you "that pushy trans woman" for having dared to call out transmisia a few times. Truly, nothing is more horrifying for cis people, especially self-proclaimed allies, than getting called out for transmisia, even if they're not getting called transmisic and assumed good intentions above and beyond.

Excellent video. I Unsubscribed to Rachel Oates awhile ago due to her “Narcissistic Abuse” video which was very ableist towards people with Personality Disorders and her Depp/Heard video which was very poorly researched and enforced a lot of abuse myths. I gave her the chance by responding in her comments about the Depp/Heard video and emailing her with more information on the case and links about abuse myths, but got no response. I was going to do the same with the ableist video, but I realised that others already had and she did not listen. How anyone can support her after publishing those private emails is beyond me. It’s far from the only terrible thing she has done, but it’s the most blatant

Funny enough, I, too, kind of independently came to the conclusion that Oates isn't an ally. Because of the KZitemrs I was watching at the time, I initially entirely ignored what you had to say about Oates (and everything actually) and took certain people at their word that you were just attacking Oates for no reason or something. But when I think around early 2020 she made a video seemingly to "prove" her allyship by saying the most basic, bland "just be nice to trans people" shit included a promotion of Rose of Dawn at the end (someone I wasn't familiar with at the time) and I immediately was able to find out that Rose of Dawn was a blatant truscum, I started to question that assumption. So to confirm, I left the most unreasonably charitable comment, opening with something to the effect of, "Oh yeah you're so nice and you so clearly have good intentions!" and then followed that up with an explanation of how obviously bad this person she promoted as a "wonderful trans KZitemr" was. I figured if she really was the ally she claimed to be, she would do something about it. She didn't, of course. She never went so far as to even acknowledge my comment and never retracted her support of Rose of Dawn so far as I could tell. I think it was a little after that when I saw Levi's video and got a more complete picture from it. Later on when I tried to search for her video and delete my overly charitable comment (mostly out of embarrassment for my mistake in trusting her character), I found that the video had been deleted or perhaps privated.

I'm not done watching and this is a little off topic, but that scene with Ben Shapiro talking to the college student has always bothered me. I just want to get this off my chest. The reason a 22 year old is not 60 is because human beings set up a numerical system of determining age based on seasons. We could have made a different system - say, based on the phases of the moon - so a person who is 22 in our current system could be roughly 264 in another system. We could have a binary system in which there are only "children" and "adults." Age is not "biological" and neither is gender. These are systems that people created to simplify communication and they can be changed when they are no longer useful. The question we should be asking is, "What are the consequences of people like Jordan Peterson, Ben Shapiro and RR using 'god' or 'science' to prevent people from creating new systems?" It's funny that RR portrays himself as Galileo when he's the one clinging to an outdated model of the world. Edit: I'm done watching the video now. This was very interesting. The part about using someone's past to dismiss their current complaints was especially enlightening. This is something that has been used against me personally, and I see used against marginalized communities as well. I've always sensed that something was off, but I didn't really understand what was going on. I can remember asking someone, "Why are you always bringing up our 'trauma'? First of all, we don't have any trauma, but what difference would it make if we did?" It made no sense to me, but now I get it. I've also been accused of "projecting my trauma" onto people who had nothing to do with it, and it was weird because I never mentioned any trauma, so where were they getting that? It's good to know it's a tactic so I can recognize it in the future. It's amazing how privileged these people - Oates and Woodford - are. I wonder if Woodford didn't research his videos very carefully because he's never _had_ to. Cis, white men are accustomed to being trusted, so they don't need to prepare for an onslaught of skepticism and people looking for any tiny mistake that can be used to discredit their entire argument. People accept what they say without question. And Oates is doing the "I'm a poor white woman being attacked by big scary trans person" thing because she knows people will believe her, even if she has no evidence. They're relying on people's prejudices to not have to do any work to prove their claims are true. Her description of Levi as "aggressive" in his email was patently false and yet people are more likely to believe a cis woman's characterization than a trans man's own words. It's astounding. On a more positive note, Ethel's nails look great!

"Mr. Shapiro, you know, there are people who are 22, there are people who are 60, in fact there are people who have all sorts of ages beyond those two. By the way, time works on a completely different mechanic than gender. It's possible for many people to experience both the ages of 22 and 60, because that's how time works. Do note that, unlike gender, which (as said) works completely differently, it's not really possible for a person to have two different ages at the same time, assuming we use the same measurement system for the ages in question, as any physicist would remind us to do. Did we digress? What were we talking about?"

Finally got around to finishing this video and a worrying trend I've noticed among people who claim themselves to be "allies" without putting in the work is that they respond to accusations of transphobia/homophobia/ableism/racism etc (this applies to all types of allyship) with hostility or defensiveness rather than reflecting on what they might've done, re-evaluating the situation, apologizing and promising to do better in the future. And then actually doing better, obviously. This whole situation really wouldn't have happened if Rachel just took the time to reflect on her actions and put in the work to be a better ally rather than just claiming to be one over and over again when faced with critique.

I know it's not the main point of this video, but here's how that 22 year old college student should have replied to Ben Shapiro: "Are you married or in a serious relationship? Prove you're actually in love with said person." The transphobe's argument is "gender is all in your head". (Which may actually be the case: female identifying brain with a male body presenting body. Gee, thanks nature for the joke). At the beginning of this entire debacle I was a fan of most atheists, but this thing showed me that even critically thinking people weren't the most honest. With very few exceptions, I removed myself from the atheist community over the ACA issues and the rampant transphobia in the community. It was very painful 😢, but as a straight, cis male, I can't begin to fathom the damage transphobes such as Oates, Woodford, Shapiro and Peterson have done.

This isn't the point of the video, but just... Woodford calling "You're not an apache helicopter" a justifiable answer and the realist definition of truth to the question "Is it true that there are only two sexes?" is not *only* transmisic, but also just weird That answer, even if it wasn't transmisic as all hell, is no better than "well that depends on what you mean by true" both answers avoid answering the question equally, the former is just more harmful I am rewatching the video to help make sure I don't miss something (my ADHD makes it likely), but this is just something I'd want to mention because it's really bugging me on more than just the transmisic level and I need to get it out of my head lol

1:28:54 I had to actually pause the video in response to how wilfully wrong this is. We all know that when a KZitemr likes a comment, that comment now has been given the appearance of approval and endorsement, despite what the KZitemr may have intended. What they intended is irrelevant when there's a little heart icon right below the comment. This is essentially how all social media works, and Oates, being terminally online, as they say (which in this case is very much an insult, as she is part of that subcategory that replies to everything for the express purpose of cultivating an image of herself in the audience's mind that has not, or perhaps cannot be earned) most certainly knows this. Who is she fooling?
