The complete soundtrack for Racing Jam is finally here! I ripped it from the original hard drive that is used with the Konami Cobra hardware. (Not the inferior Konami NWK-TR version) It took some trial and error to convert it properly but it sounds great. I also included voice clips and sound effects at 18:47. I could not figure out how to convert them properly so they are distorted. (More info on this is in the description.) More exclusive Racing Jam videos (and other videos) are coming so be sure to subscribe and turn on bell notifications!

In October 1997, Konami released Racing Jam, the most ambitious arcade racing game they had ever created. Initially, it was only available in a Super Deluxe cabinet, which featured an LCD projector that was displayed on a 70” curved screen. This was unheard of in the arcade world in 1997. The game ran on the incredibly powerful, expensive, unreliable and suicidal Konami Cobra hardware. In early 1998, Racing Jam became available in smaller deluxe cabinet which featured a 50” rear projection monitor and a traditional twin cabinet which each featured two 27” inch CRT monitors. However, these versions ran on the Konami NWK-TR hardware, which was based off of the Konami Hornet hardware. The NWK-TR was inferior to the Cobra in terms of graphics and audio. It is unknown as to why Konami made 2 pieces of hardware to run the same game. My guess is that the Cobra was too expensive to include in the deluxe and twin cabinets. The Super Deluxe machine already cost $24,500 USD and a pair of twin machines was cheaper than that.
The Cobra hardware came equipped with a hard drive to store 99% of the game data (a 1 GB Quantum Pioneer SG). The NWK-TR used ROM chips. I have not yet played the NWK-TR version of Racing Jam but the game appears to be basically identical. It just looks and sounds a bit worse than the Cobra version. This soundtrack is from the Cobra version. The soundtrack in the NWK-TR version is likely the same, but is more compressed. Funny enough, the soundtrack for Fighting Bujutsu (AKA Fighting Wu-Shu) is also included on the Racing Jam hard drive. Fighting Bujutsu was the only other Konami Cobra game that was made. Soon after the game was released, Konami released an update called Fighting Bujutsu The 2nd. This version is said to have had bug fixes and costume updates. The original version of Fighting Bujutsu has never been dumped and is considered “lost media” at this point. I will release the Fighting Bujutsu soundtrack sometime. The entire audio rip from the hard drive was over 90 minutes long.
About 75% of this audio is distorted garbage (AKA the graphics for the game) so those were not included in this upload. Voice clips and sound effects can be heard at 18:47 which I couldn’t convert properly. The pitch is heavily off and there’s a lot of noise because I couldn’t figure out the correct conversion settings. It’s one section of constant sound, I didn’t edit the clips together. That’s how they were arranged on the hard drive which is why they fly by so fast to the point where it's funny. Several of the voice clips you hear were not used in the actual game. Many of the voice clips that do appear in the game are missing in this upload. They are somewhere on the hard drive but I couldn’t find them. Like I said, I couldn’t figure out how to convert the audio for the voice clips and sound effects but maybe someone else can figure it out. For now, enjoy the complete soundtrack is here in highest quality that KZitem will allow.
