March 4, 2004 - After seven and a half seasons in Portland, two-time All-Star Rasheed Wallace was dealt to the Atlanta Hawks midway through the 2003-2004 regular season. Ten days later, he was traded again, this time to the Detroit Pistons. Eight games into his Pistons career, Wallace headed back to Portland to face his former team. Greeted with a mixed-though-predominantly positive response from the Portland crowd, Wallace tallied 13 points, nine rebounds, and three blocks in an 83-68 victory. The win marked the first of five consecutive games in which the Pistons would hold opponents to 69 points or less.
With Wallace in tow, the Pistons roared to a 20-4 finish to the regular season, setting the stage for a playoff run that would culminate in the team's third championship in franchise history.
Sidenote: At 1:44, Wallace can be seen wearing the jersey of former Blazers teammate Bonzi Wells. Wells was dealt from Portland two months prior to Wallace and returned the day prior to Rasheed's arrival and scored 28 points in a win as a member of the Memphis Grizzlies.
