Notes on this video: - Sorry! REC is Spanish not Italian! Sorry my mistake I should know this, I’ve spoken about it several times on my channel being Spanish, it was honestly just a slip up. -I was meant to talk about the 2004 Grudge, but totally spaced and spoke about the 2020 one which is why I changed the cover in the video halfway through, I didn't realise until the edit, so I edited the other poster over the top . I know the 2020 one is considered a half remake half sequel but honestly, who can tell with the final product!? - Also I know some of these are remakes have ties to the originals which means they can be seen as reboots, some even called soft requels… but I wanted an array of films to show different thoughts I had. I’m aware that some of these can be considered more than one type of 'RE' film 😜. The video is just in fun, it’s more about remaking for different audiences and generations, don’t take it too seriously. Thank you for letting me scream my nonsense into the void. -LINK TO TEMPLATE: tiermaker.com/create/horror-movie-remakes---spookyastronauts-1139987

@@Ericboy114558 Yeah, I have the same opinion of it It's a very good movie, but when I compare all the Evil Dead movies, this one is my least favourite But that doesn't make it a bad film... This was a very good effort 👍 Something I picked up on the first viewing is that I think this movie had the least likable characters out of all the other films Like, the book reader had no redemption or growth... I still didn't like that kid at the end Eric in 2013, he wasn't so 1 dimensional But I liked the effects, I liked how the deadites moved in the 2023 version more like the originals... They floated lol So there were a few things I liked a lot from the new one more than the 2013 version, but that's more nostalgia than quality related imo I have brought the Blu-ray lol It's a shame Jane Levi refused to carry on with the 2013 version!.. Because imo it's one of the best horrors made in? Decades probably ✌️👊

The Crazies doesn't get enough love or recognition. Even when it came out during the pre-Platinum Dunes remake renaissance it was overshadowed by Dawn of the Dead, The Hills Have Eyes and The Last House on the Left. Remakes should either do it differently or do it better and The Crazies does it so much better than the sort of obscure and not great original. The pitchfork scene for me personally is one of the most effective and tense horror scenes in the last 20 years.

Agreed, Crazies is great (although making them obviously infected in the remake makes them look sort of like zombies, which is why in the original they looked completely normal until their actions revealed they were infected and this is what made it more frightening (because you didn't know who was infected just by looking at them).

Thanks as always for your list, Emma. Given our generational age difference, it is always heartwarming for me to find some horror films that we can agree on. For the most part, I agree with most of your ranking choices. I did want to add a couple of notes that focus on the more positive observations: 1. THE RING - I agree totally. The original and remake are equally fantastic. 2. EVIL DEAD - I never thought I would like this film as much as I did, especially with no Ash Williams. However, the remake managed to do the one thing that makes any horror film work for me, it made me care about the lead characters. 3. THE THING - You analysis was spot on. The original is a classic (my dad's favorite horror film), but John Carpenter made the best remake at the best time. 4. 13 GHOSTS - The original is just a goofy ghost film with a gimmick and that's exactly what the remake is, a bigger budget goofy ghost film. Essentially, the remake nailed it. 5. HALLOWEEN - Nowhere near as good as the original, but I always appreciate Rob Zombie's style. Rob is only a couple of years older than me, so I think we both grew up watching similar stuff on TV and in the movies.

There has been a ton of hate for sequels/remakes/reboots and stuff recently, especially on Twitter, and I don’t really understand why. Like they say the only things we get now are reboots from franchises that won’t die but then they don’t go watch the original horror like X and Umma. Also, they’re the same people who go and call the 80s the golden age for horror despite the fact that it was packed full of sequels and dominated by franchises like Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street. I just really get annoyed when people act like remakes and sequels are a new thing. I mean just look at the Universal Monsters or the Godzilla and King Kong movies. They pretty much popularized and formed the basis for the horror genre back in the 20s and 30s because they were such a huge franchises. The horror genre would not be what it is without franchises.

Great list. You left out Psycho remake with Vince Vaughn lol haha, I actually didn't think it was bad and Vince Vaughn is always great but the remake didn't need to be. Lol. Nothing could ever touch the OG. I pretty much agree with you on all these remakes, Evil Dead is my fav. The only one I didn't share in with you is RZ Halloween, I loved it but I love most his films. Other than that, I pretty much agree with your assessment. Always enjoy your reviews, I tend to agree with you on a lot but obviously not everything, art is definitely subjective. I love such a wide variety of horror and have favs in almost every sub genre. Lots of pretty good remakes out there, I get that some people dislike them but they don't bother me and I can understand the need. I actually put The Blair Witch remake higher too, probably a B for me. I also loved Wrong Turn 2021 but could have been named something else, love the OG. There's always a special place in my horror heart for backwoods, inbred, cannibal, deformed murderers. Lol. Other than the ones I listed, totally agree. It's your channel not mine, lol. 🤘. P.S. Both my wife and I are addicted to true crime and horror and we've seen most on your true crime list, one I hadn't seen but then watched was "Wild Wild Country", definitely crazy; thanks for the list. Always will be interested in more true crime lists because we've seen a ton, we call them bedtime stories, lol. Love love love PET SEMATARY, one of my all time favs, OG not remake, the remake was 🤮. Thanks from Michigan✋

I think Brock Eisner’s 2010 remake of Romero’s The Crazies is one of the best film remakes ever done. It oozes atmosphere and Timothy Olyphant and Radha Mitchell are really strong in their respective roles.

I LOVED the Suspiria remake but I've never seen the original. Should I watch it?

Somehow I always forget that The Fly (1986) is a remake. Totally agree about Evil Dead, the original is one of my favorite horror movies so I was really happy about the remake

I would have the exact same S tier, minus The Hills Have Eyes, as I have never seen it (nor the original) in order to judge.

I loved the Wrong Turn remake however I agree with you, it didn't need that title. I would've loved it regardless. I also really love The Last House on the Left and When a Stranger Calls remakes. I go back to them alot.

Love your takes, I haven't seen many of them but the ones I have i totally agree. Evil Dead is a great remake that changes the tone but does so to its benefit because you can't beat Sam Raimi at his own creation!
