Wore it as a reserves soldier backnin the late 80s early 90s, when we were activated for desert shield, the active duty called us the "Screaming Pussies" because of all the medics and nuses complaining about interupting thier schools and college to go pay for that sweet GI bill money.

Red Bulls! Huge amount of history. The first volunteer Rangers came from the division. Longest serving unit in WW2. First US Soldier to set foot in Europe (Italy) from the 34th.

The 29th patch is supposed to represent the north and the south being reintegrated after the civil war and being peaceful. That's why the unsubdued patch is blue and grey.

Yeah, if I recall correctly, they were formed out of regiments from Maryland and Virginia, which fought on opposite sides of the Civil War. Hence, the blue and the grey.

Army CID (less army now, but still a decent patch) it shows up in tv shows and movies here and there. Normally on dress uniforms. Even Jack Reacher is supposed to be a CID agent...or something like that. He's a special investigator...which isn't really a thing..but hey. Shout out to the MP Investigators, you're special now.

The 42nd has an Irish battalion, but it is not an Irish Division. It is a division of National Guard units envisioned to spread across the nation like a rainbow. Sadly it only came back as half a rainbow.
