He was a great basketball player apparently. But even knowing that, seeing him move like that was incredible. When he moved to the WWF Vince wanted him working a slower more methodical pace, as he usually does with big men. Paul Wright also lost a lot of motivation while putting on a lot of weight. Put all that together and you see why his work rate went down when he jumped ship.

Whenever I hear that phrase, I think of all of wrestling's time honored traditions that Vince McMahon trampled over before changing course all of a sudden and being the defender of time honored traditions when Bret Hart didn't want to do what he wanted him to do. But you're right, the rule of thumb was to have wrestlers lose on their way out to build up the guys that were going to be there a little longer.

Yokozuna was one of my favourites during the new generation era. And seeing him go from a dominant force in 1992 and 1993 to a jobber to the stars who could barely work in 1996 was truly heart-breaking. He only did one illegal move at that Survivor Series, which really showed how far he'd fallen. Sadly that wasn't the biggest he would get, at his last televised appearance he looked even more overweight and immobile, somewhere between 750 and 800 lbs. Apparently during that time he was intentionally getting bigger with an ambition to be the heaviest pro wrestler ever setting his goal weight at 900 lbs.

Some things to think about: 1. I was at those RAWs that were from Wheeling. Pretty good stuff, actually. Wheeling was known for having good crowds. WWE doesn't like going to smaller venues as much anymore, but they are nearly guaranteed to have a good crowd there. 2. No one is going to comment on Paul's catapulting himself over the top rope to the floor on his feet as if he was some damn cruiserweight at 33:55 ? He had some speed for a huge man. 3. Some major Monday Night War moments are coming up soon. First....SIGH...JR is about to start hyping the Fake Diesel and Razor storyline. Second, a MAJOR controversial segment happens in a few months on RAW (can't WAIT to hear the commentary on that one) But the Fall Brawl match will be a major moment in not only the Monday Night War, but also in Sting's career. Remember how the Crow Sting started. Fall Brawl is where the kayfabe reason behind him going that route happened.
