After his feud with Jerry Lawler, Mark Henry would have a pretty unremarkable career for the next 15 years until his boom period in 2011. I can't help but wonder if the same would have happened to Angle if he'd debuted in 1996. While he was head and shoulders above Henry in terms of wrestling skill and charisma, If he'd have feuded with Lawler in his debut, would that have crushed his credibility early on? Also being an Olympic Gold Medallist he most likely would have been portrayed as a white meat American babyface, which wouldn't have transitioned well into the early days of the attitude era when anti heroes and cool villains where the most popular things in wrestling at that time.
@ChiGuy251
3 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say his career was unremarkable up til then there was the whole Nation Of Domination thing and then Sexual Chocolate gimmick and an underrated 2006 run.
@voltron983
3 жыл бұрын
@@ChiGuy251 I always found Mark Henry to be the least memorable member of the Nation. Sexual Chocolate did have its moments, but for the most part felt like throw away comedy skits in my opinion. Though I can agree on 2006 to an extent, had his match with Batista happened at the Great American Bash, that could have been the start of a career making feud.

Its not like USA types weren't still ov er in 97 tho........WWE just stopped emphasizing that type of thing after Bret Hart bounced. I imagine Kurt would have thrived in the WWF no matter when he came in, if he debuted in 97, I think he probably would have been in The Patriots spot

@@jeffzehnpfennig1554 Guess who Bobby Heenan, not "hennen", called the "best manager bar none"? Jim Cornette. You think you know more than The Brain? You can't even spell his name, mook. And yes, Jim regularly says that Bobby was the best and how much he learned from him. Unfortunately, Bobby isn't with us anymore, so Jim is the best alive. Watch the video of Jim giving Bobby a tour of (parts of) his collection. So much love and mutual respect. It's such a shame that Bobby lost the ability to speak so soon when they both became more active on the convention circuit. The "evenings with...", Q&As, and panel discussions we could have had with both of them telling stories and exchanging thoughts and memories!
