I don’t know why you put it on that cutting mat, but you inadvertently saved me a lot of trouble! I have the same TV (technically a later revision, no rear AV inputs, but the important part for our story is the same: the outer shell), which I use for retro gaming. I want to get a modern TV for my newer systems, but have limited space. The solution I came up with was to build sort of a crate that will rest on my existing TV stand with the tube TV inside of it, and the modern TV will rest on top of. I took measurements of everything, but somehow either neglected to measure the front to back dimension of the TV or just didn’t write it down. I didn’t catch this mistake until I’d already driven to the wood shop I’m using across town, a drive that is about half an hour at bare minimum. I started looking for information about the TV on my phone (luckily I remembered the brand and about when it was made), and stumbled upon this video. I couldn’t believe my dumb luck, that you’d placed it on top of something that had its dimensions written right on it! 🤣 So yeah, thanks a ton. You saved me at least an hour, and I managed to nearly finish it in one afternoon. 👍

I'm glad the video helped you out! When I started doing videos it was just by chance the cutting mat was underneath and just kept it that way ever since. Enjoy your creation and thank you for the comment!

How does the picture compare to the smaller Trinitrons? I’ve heard RCA and JVC are good. I’m looking at an RCA Tru Flat with component input.

I am biased toward the Trinitrons to be honest but at the same time I have not done side-by-side comparisons on these so hard to say for sure.
