Thanks for the review. New to reloading and pulling my hair out priming 223/556. I get it now.

Nice video. I have an older RCBS primer pocket swager, but it is pretty slow, and I'd still peel the side of a cup occasionally when seating a primer. If you have a large volume of military crimp brass, if you can obtain or use someone's Dillon 1050 for the first loading it will save a huge amount of time.

One shot I will never use for resizing. I used it as per instructions and had a 30-06 case break off UP INSIDE my die. No way to grab it to get it out. Thank God, Lee sent me a new body for just shipping cost. I will try one shot for this procedure.

I had a few .30-06 cases damaged because screwing the rod up into the die like they say to do doesn't leave enough room in the die for the longer case and it crushed them. I had to lower the rod down into the die more. It doesn't really do a thorough job and I have to use my case mouth chamfering tool to cut off the crimp.

This is a very good tool. Must set the pin on the line with the bottom of the die. Lube the pin too.

I'm sure the lee resizing lube would work as well as one shot. Especially if you dillute it for a spray bottle

I found you can go too deep and it's very hard to set up. There is a balance between too shallow and too deep. To deep will cause very loose primer pockets.

Hey New ReLoaders.... Buy a Lee Universal DeCapping Die, Remove Primers without running Dirty Brass in your Sizer Die !! Now, You can Swage easier !!, Trim to length, Now Clean, Now Size !!

I just tumble brass right after the range..toss it in walk away and avoid the extra step of depriming and then later resizing....tumble real quick again at the end and your done. Tumbling is the easiest step of all drop em in and walk off(i plug my tumbled into a cheap christmas light timer, turns its self off at the set time) and your brass is extra clean. Better then the extra strokes for each and every case with your method. But there is always more then one way to skin a cat.

And don't go to deep really only have to go a 1/4 turn down on the die. Like he said ya don't want to smash the pin into the very bottom of the pocket.

+A REDTAIL I have no direct experience with the Lee Hand Press, but just by looking at it, I would say that there would be two problems using this swaging die with it. 1.) It doesn't look like there is enough clearance between the ram and body to fit the cup that pops the case off the swaging pin. 2.) It takes quite a bit of force to pop the case loose after swaging. I'm not sure that this would be very easy with the hand press. With my RCBS Rockchucker IV press, which has excellent leverage, I have to thump them pretty good to get them to pop off the pin. I would council against prying the case off the swaging pin versus popping it straight off as this could easily oval out the primer pocket causing problems later.

I wouldn't. The down stroke on the rock chucker doesn't really do it. You need that cam over to really get it swaged.

I know this is an old comment but I will answer part of it. This RCBS tool does not work with the Lee Hand Press. The piece that slips over the ram won’t fit, not enough clearance between the ram and the press body.

Can this tool be used for 300 blackout brass that has been converted from 223/556?

To answer my own question. I received my swage die a few days ago and gave it a go. I am happy to report that it works very well with converted 300 blackout brass. Works better than cutting the crimp out.

I had high hopes for this tool. Just received mine a couple days ago with the intentions of using it on LC .38 Special brass and thus far it has not been helpful to me in the least. I have had success on one in four cases where I attempted to prime them after swaging. One primer went in albeit with a slight amount of reluctance and the the other three were partially crushed. It is supposed to work for pistol brass but maybe it really doesn't. I used the correct components.

I would be very carefully applying lubrication to a primer pocket..Contamination may become an issue even natural oil on a finger should be avoided when handling primers

beware! using lube on the primer pocket Will foul the primer and powder unless you wash the hulls before priming and loading.

Not with Hornady One Shot. After applying, you must let it dry for a few minutes. When dry it does not contaminate primer or powder.
