On 31 August 1422, 600 years ago, King Henry V died while campaigning in France.
On 21 July 1403, at the age of 16, Prince Hal, the future Henry V, was struck in the face by an arrow. The arrowhead was lodged in his skull and surgeon John Bradmore was summoned to try to remove it. Bradmore would invent a piece of medical equipment to help him achieve this, and treat the would to prevent infection and minimise the scar.
At Shrewsbury Medieval Festival, re-enactment group Tempus Phenix recreated the removal of the arrow.
Tempus Phenix are:
James Wright as John Bradmore
Rhys Edwards as Bradmore's assistant
George Cecil as Prince Henry
Luke Woods de Lacy as King Henry IV
