I love this book. Such an underrated story from the EU/Legends continuity.

When I picked it up, I didn't expect anything but I ended up really enjoying it. The only part I didn't like was when Vader started chasing the protagonists in the middle of the Battle of Yavin, that was a bit too much, lol. What I liked was that we got a glimpse into all the civilians who worked on the Death Star. Also, it explained why Kyle Katarn found the Death Star plans on some backwater planet.

I remember enjoying the novel, though it is one of my lost books from my moves. I think they may have been channeling the "curmudgeon" trope developed by Star Trek which to me works in this instance. He is angry and bitter about his continued servitude so he is willing to mouth off to Vader, because Vader can only kill him. Vader does not care about the doctor's opinions so long as he remains compliant, further we do know that Vader has greater appreciation for those who openly hate him than he does for those who will attempt flattery. For these reasons I do not have issues with the portrayal of the doctor. In general,I thought that this was a great book.

I remember liking this book for the most part, but it's been quite a while since I read it. I do recall there being too many characters though.
