I do love that Palpatine shows up PERSONALLY just to make sure his pet Project Anakin isn't harmed on this suicide ship

I think Sidious wanted C'baoth/Outbound Flight destroyed for two reasons: 1) C'baoth was insane. He was emotionally and mentally insane. Sidious is just plan evil, but C'baoth is insane, and a figure like that would not go well with Sidious. Plus, if C'baoth succeeded, he would've been able to reform the Jedi Order to fit his vision, which would foil the plans for Order 66 and whatnot. 2) There was a lot of Jedi on Outbound Flight, so it was an opportunity for Sidious to strike a blow against the Jedi Order.

6:38 Even if they didn't have it in the Adventure Journal and tales. Thrawn's full name was out in the Hand of Thrawn Duology and Survivor's Quest all of which were published before this.

I like how Zahn depicted C’baoth as still having a sense of honor, despite his authoritarian and punitive personality.

It's my favorite of his since the thrawn trilogy. I thought it was much better then hand of thrawn or allegiance and choices of one.

I just have finished this book and I loved it. I don't see contradiction in Palpatine sending Jorus in the Outbound Flight because this guy would never be a Sith apprentice. Jorus doesn't follow orders he is a dictator, he wanted the Jedi Order to be a strong dictatorship so that would be in conflict with Palpatine plans. For Palpatine it was better to have peacemakers in the Jedi Council and trigger their inner contradicitions in the Clone Wars. I see the authorization of the Outbound Flight as the taking out competitors

9:01 Did Jude Watson do that story before Surivor's Quest? Because that's where Jinzler's brother was first introduced.

I’m confused so in heir to the empire thrawn had already met that old Jedi that wasn’t fully Jedi anymore?

Agreed. Was really only interesting if read in publication order, as Matt alluded to. Seems more like a project Zahn pushed for rather than was asked, but that's just a guess. Decent but not great IMHO.

I found the first third or so of the book to be just ok and kinda slogged through it, but then things really picked up and I was on the edge of my seat till the end!

3:08 You call Zahn Thrawn. Also the "Kinman Doriana thinks he's spying on Palpatine for Sidious" thing was just WEIRD, was Zahn feeling bad that he'd talked up Kinman as some sort of hybrid of Vader, Thrawn, and Mara Jade and deliberately walking it back by making him a complete idiot? Or was that supposed to be the two of them playing a little game?

@@ace9924 star by star is overhyped. However saying Luke is C'baoth is just blatantly not true but you can read the books and make up your own mind
