My grandma lived in Crewe, VA ant she’d give me the BEST birthday, Christmas and Easter presents shopping at a place there that yes, was pretty much a dusty hoarders house, and u were doing the owners a favor by bringing up the things ud randomly find that were broken lol they’d thank u, ask u if u wanted it free, and if u said no they’d just drop it in a box behind the counter to throw out. If you talk to a local asking if they "know a guy", they'll tell you about yeah this dude A does alright work for pretty cheap, but dude B is a shady pos who will 100% rip you off!! There is no further explanation WHY that opinion exists, and it flip flops from local to local. If they don't say exactly this, the answer will be either lol no good luck with a business 3+ hours away, or my son and I can totally do that (slowly & poorly), you live over there, right? But the way you're responding is not polite. I could say to you: "oh so you don't believe in God, you must believe an explosion happened out of nowhere and BANG we are all here and we need green pieces of paper with numbers on it to live riiighhht"... Have some respect and an open mind, all I ask. Both sides can sound stupid when simplified like that. And btw, JW's hand out magazines and bibles etc FOR FREE all over the world, they need donations. No one benefits personally from the money donated. Just so you know. Have a good night.

@@budling5921 Alrighty, for L Guffee too then. Back about 8 years ago or so there was a mod for GTA SA called SA:MP or San Andreas Multiplayer. It let you host servers and had a scripting engine for the game. So you could create a script and have RP servers, racing servers, arena battles, whatever you could think of and script. This server I was a part of was a racing server. There was a lobby and from there you would choose a map and race on it. One thing was that players could make maps and have them playable on the server. I don't know the process as I never uploaded a map myself, IIRC they submitted them to an admin and once approved were hosted. Well at that time there wasn't really a rating system in place so one of the admins tackled that project. He spent a couple weeks creating a ratings system where people could choose from one to five stars. But he also added a bunch of different ways to sort the maps based on rating/player, rating/playthough, and a bunch of other ratios I don't remember. After that system was in place for a while he noticed that almost every single rating left by players was either one star or five. This lead to there being no gradient to the ratings on maps and all his fancy sorting techniques were useless. He was so disgusted that people fed his algos "junk" data he made a huge post about how everyone is an extremist with no sense of value because they only saw in terms of good and bad and that was that F everyone goodbye. And we never saw him again.

my grandparents live where i basically grew up and i go there every summer for about a month... and boy does it never get old. shellsburg iowa consists of: -unsupervised babies and small children running around in diapers everywhere and people just think it’s normal -one gas station that smells like clorox and hot cheese -a “restaurant” that’s basically a very old slimy pub/grill thing that’s located in a old building that was once a bank in the 1800’s -kens gun shop -roy’s hometown grocery (that place feels more like home than where i’ve lived the past 5 years) -the SUPER dollar store -a park i played at as a child that pretty much consists of gravel, a broken slide, and a water fountain that drunks from give bar throw up in all the time

Reminds me of small town Ontario... I found old convenience stores that still have toys from the 90's, color faded that have been sitting there for 20 years waiting to be bought. Thats how I got my massive Johnny Bravo/Dexters Lab sticker set... In 2014. And a ton of rare vinyl in perfect condition I bought for 20 bucks that I could see each record for 10 bucks if I wanted to.

I know the exact type of store Gus was talking about, when I was a kid my mom took me to multiple shops that existed in loading docks of other buisiness' just like that one. I remember one let me play around in an unoccupied part of the building while my mom did her shopping. I grew up thinking that kind of buisiness was completely normal until I brought it up in conversation and my friend stared back at me bewildered.

Lil Randy There's this pizza place where I live and on their website they have a glowing review from somebody. The thing is you rarely see anybody there. You pass by and there aren't any cars in the parking lot, and if you actually go in you'll only see one occupied booth, if that. The last time I went there was a rude worker who, instead of taking my order, insulted my team right to my face (I was wearing a jersey). I walked out and decided that I'd never go back. There are plenty of places in town that are willing to take my order and my money without being hateful. I don't know how that place is still open.

There's a really cool bar and grill place near where I live that my family goes to every once in a while. Most of the reviews are glowing, but there's a 1-star review that legit sounds like the guy is lying about what happened because he has a personal vendetta against the owner. He claims his party was shut-out from a table and his wife got called "swear words" that he would not disclose.
@KaijaSchmauss

I also just looked at the reviews for this brand new bar/restaraunt near me and there's a review from an old man who was pissed about getting ID'd because he's paranoid about identity theft or some shit. I'd laugh except the waiter/waitress was litterally just doing their job and I feel bad that they had to deal with the scene this dude probably made.

I grew up in Natchez, Mississippi so I feel this. It's one of the bigger towns, but that's not saying much for Mississippi. Growing up I always considered Starbucks luxury since the closest one was almost 2 hours away in Baton Rouge (where LSU is). But after moving back to California I saw they were everywhereeee. AND IT'S NOT EVEN THE GOOD COFFEE. I also had never seen a Target until I moved back to California. All we had in my town was churches, fast food, gas stations, and tons of abandoned shut down businesses. Small town life is weird.
