@@recession81 They're not terrible, it's what you've gotten used to. It's similar to how some people love steep concave boards, whilst others swear by low concave. Honestly, if the twin tails or double kicks are any good in terms of shape and size, it's more convenient to ride on IMHO.
@PHeMoX

@@Patrick_Andrews917 You will find some very very decent ones amongst the freestyle decks out there. Do a search for Waltz and another one for Never Enough. The only downside if there is one is how these decks were designed with freestyle in mind, so don't expect a too steep concave unless it is explicitly mentioned. These are mostly mellow to low concave.

ishod, the way you pronounced it is correct. EYEshod (like iPod) is his nickname. he hates being called EEshod. glad you got used to the twin tail. i’ll probably stick with it for my daily setup. i like not having to worry which side is which, the extended life of the deck because you skate both sides equally, & the consistent feeling pop. try the 8 or 8.5... feels more like a twin nose with fatter tails

Interesting observation about muscle memory and board shapes. I skated between 89 and 93, and managed to assemble a nice set of tricks, including nose manuals to whatever. I started skateboarding again more or less recently and I just think that noses are way to big. Granted, I forgot everything, but nose manuals and everything nose-wise are particularly difficult, just because I won't get use to these big noses. So this deck may be what I was looking for.

Truly symmetrical boards (like Ben is reviewing in this video) are still vary rare to find in shops being that theres only a half dozen or so pros that are known to ride twin tail or twin nose shapes. What your referring to is actually known as a popsicle shaped deck, which are near symmetrical but the nose and tail are slightly different usually in length and/or steepness. But yes popsicle shaped boards hugely progessed the sport and opened up a whole new world of tricks to skateboarders. Twin tail/twin nose shapes (truely symmetrical boards) are a new trend thats emerging and could be the next major industry change when it comes to decks, in another 5 to 10 years symmetrical decks might be the new norm.

Just got a hotel blue which is the closest to a twin tail (or maybe twin nose?) that I've ever ridden. It was instant love for me. As a kid, I never got the significant size difference between tail and nose. Even after 8 years or whatever it never felt right to me. Just rode the hotel blue at the park and it was amazing. Never had to think about direction of the board when setting up for a trick. It's not quite twin, but it's close enough I can't see or feel the difference... Maybe it's the perfect shape?!

Rodney Mullen's ted talk truly changed the mindset of skateboarders and how we think of tradional skate stances. In his ted talk he mentions becoming a truly fluid stance skater... someone that isn't regular or goofy footed but rather skates in every which way, with no discernable differences in skate ability/style from one stance to the next. Mullen dicusses how the thought came to him after having to re-learn everything he knew in the oppisite stance after he had a major surgery. I reference all that, because this is essentially the basis of having a truly symmetical deck. since a stance-less/fluid stance skater benefits most from a symmetrical deck. Mullen's theory is that anything you can do regular stance you can do switch, nollie, fakie... If you can ollie you can switch ollie, your body/mind knows the motions its just a matter of practice and repetition to build that same muscle memory in the oppisite stance. Having a twin nose/twin tail is highly beneficial to the learning of switch/nollie tricks... many skaters like to do switch tricks off the nose and thats directly linked to the muscle memory of doing nollie tricks... nollie being switch rolling backwards so the muscle memory motions are essentially the same... whereas if you try switch tricks using the tail (when your use to doing switch tricks from the nose) your timing is gonna be all messed up because your muscle memory for switch/nollie tricks is based off popping from the nose rather then tail... a true symmetrical shape means the timing/muscle memory never changes no matter which stance your riding in. and I know the idea of symmetical boards has been around long before Mullen's ted talk but its of my opinion that theres a direct correlation between his ted talk and the ermering popularity of twin shape decks.
