Reminds me of when I was lowering my s10. The driver's side front leaf spring bolt hits the fuel tank and would not come out without a ton of wrestling. Took me about an hour but I got it out. I put the new bolt in the opposite way to prevent future headaches.

I was thinking this the other day when i went to take that bolt out. But you don’t have to remove it. There are little notch’s in that hub that you can rotate while removing the bolt to take it out without disassembly. The head basically sits in that area as you spin and pull it and then it will pop out. At least on my 89 this was the case.

This reminds me of a truck i did leaf springs on, i think it was an f350. They put the bolts from the inside out to where you cant get one of the bolts out because the fuel tank is there. Wound up cutting the head off and putting a new bolt in the way it shouldve been

I didn't think it was that big a deal when I did it. I'm not even sure I pulled it out all the way. I probably should go back there as it does leak now, but it is high mileage at this point. I don't think I had anything dripping out.

@adamthatguy454

Yes you can put it in the other way when reassembling. From a 'crazy things can happen' safety perspective it's better to have the bolt head forward in case the nut ever comes loose. I still just put mine in head-to-the-rear when I rebuilt mine for the serviceability.
