Hi Joon, I took an interest in plumbing and applied to be an apprentice at my union Local 675. After I interviewed and passed the test my agent said he would let me know when a job was available for me. It has been just over three months since then. I contact him for updates but there's been no openings for apprentices in my area, I guess. Did you have a similar experience having to wait?

@@brookskaniho9672 hi thanks for the question. It really is all about timing, job market and what your local is doing with contractors. I have heard of others having to wait...but they should be able to get you in as a helper. You also might have done all the right stuff but others might be ahead of you. So it can take some time

@@JoonRhee Thanks for the reply. What do you mean by helper?

@@brookskaniho9672 it's basically a pre apprentice that's able to work in the field and gain experience. Very entry level. I did that for a month before I got accepted into the program

@@brookskaniho9672 also you might to work through the school year bc most apprenticeships start with the regular school year and don't put people in half way or part way until the following school year

@@JoonRhee Ah I see, thanks for the info. They told me I would start work in a probation period which could last anywhere from 1-6 months depending on several factors. After passing probation I would be sworn in and start classes. Probation sounds like helper.
