Cozy and kind video. I remember this place from an amateur filming. Then the wave put the car on the fence, then it crushed the ships, pushing them under the bridge. But my beloved japan came to life.

This is a fascinating transition. The first thing I noticed, in the first segment, was how much had been washed away at the base of the tsunami wall by the water pouring violently over it. In the videos of this happening, of course you couldn't see that.

É impressionante o poder da Natureza. O mar avançou em tudo em poucos segundos pra depois o mar voltar ao seu lugar. Pelas fotos anos depois parece que não aconteceu nada apesar dos destroços ainda serem vistos.

I went through a tornado last year. 4-22-2020. So it's been almost a year now and pretty much things are back to normal. "Normal " , meaning the new normal. No trees, some houses still messed up but most everything is better. It's been 10 years for Japan since the tsunami and it's still like that. SAD.
I was surprised that the large building from which these videos were shot, was eventually demolished. Since only its first and/or second stories would have been damaged by the water, I would've assumed it would have been kept. This seemed particularly likely since the small buildings further along the tsunami wall weren't removed. But obviously there's a master plan for the area and perhaps it's being permanently cleared.

Japan's warning system is one of the best in the world. The problem was the calculation of the height of the wave, it was totally wrong. People underestimated it, so not all moved to a high enough ground.
