I'm surprised they didn't put all the wiring underground instead of using poles again. In the USA, when there's a major redevelopment, no utility poles are put up.
Unbelievable & I hope what ever they build to replace what was lost is beautiful.. it's just ashame that all that history was washed away in a few hours & will take a lifetime to put back... the scale water who would think it! & water is a mysterious element

Interesting. That one building in the middle left is still standing in the end. But why would they tear down the rest of the buildings which survived? Were they so heavily damaged? Seems that ferroconcrete structures have no problem withstanding the wave.. only the wooden ones get washed away.

& this video also demonstrates how quick it would take nature to reclaim... Plant must have been really lush before we built all over it
