Growing up in Puerto Rico we used to make Pasta de Tamarindo, tamarind paste. Basically you remove the seeds and mix the tamarindo with sugar. Just mix and mix till it turns into a paste. We loved it.

You can blend it in the blender for a little bit. It won't break the blender. Then you just have to remove the seeds. Blend it again to remove the remaining seeds. Also use a strainer for the seeds and flesh. I guarantee it works. This is how we do it in Brazil. There's no problem at all.

Chill shake and Enjoy! Don't add the Serrano until you go to drink it. Put in a slice or two with seeds, shake and let sit in the juice as your drinking. +Hananan Abdul Of course you can.. Might I suggest Stevia.. Agave is really expensive and you will use a whole lot.. Actually CAN never boils the tamarind, as boiling destroys some (if not most) of the nutrients, just make the water (use spring water or bottled) come to a boil, take off the stove, then place the tamarind into it and leave it to cool, not completely, just leave a hint of warmth, the soaking softens and loosens the food from the seed. Then take a tool of choice (food masher or egg whisker or beater my choice) and beat tamarind in the water. This water will thicken with the richness of the tamarind which has by now dissolved, strain and place water over the pulp over and over again until all the substance of the tamarind has been gone from the seeds. You may add key lime juice (lemons or limes with seeds juice) and a hint of vanilla to the juice and sweeten with agave nectar (our favorite or honey if you like, have also use black strip molasses, soaked dated, date syrup or date sugar as well)..................CAN
