I did the same thing. Very smart and easy to do. Good luck.

Thanks or asking. They are holding their own in the cages . I thought they’d be a bit bigger now . Thanks for the comment

The deer love them . Anything that grew out of cage was eaten . This summer I am gunna make the cages a bit taller and take pressure off them A bit more . Want them to grow/establish a bit more before the deer go to town on them . Thanks for watching 👨🏻👍🏼 more to come

With as easy as it is to propagate them from cuttings, why not save some money and buy 25 and let em mature with a tall cage then take cuttings from them and stick in the ground?

Thanks for watching and commenting, the answer isn’t straight FWD. If you have lots of deer pressure you may not be able to uncage , may want to let grow out of cage and let deer manage overgrowth . I would say other option is make sure a good portion of plant is above shoulder height , that will be above the deer browse line . Last thought is if the base is now over an inch in diameter, cause then the deer won’t eat it right to ground

They grew right out of cages . And deer are keeping them groomed . I am gunna add some more height to my cages and take some pressure off them for this spring/summer . Want them to get bigger/more est before deer get to them 👨🏻👍🏼 thanks for watching more to come
