the noise at first is awesome,but eventually your ears will pour shit out of them and you will be deaf from that v8 noise.also it is not meant for tractor/truck purpouse,since it doesnt have the torque needed.you should have better put a detroit diesel or a cummins or something like that in there.loads of torque,but the noise would still be very cool,but it wouldnt make you deaf.

a diesel would give you 1 main advantage, it would get fuel at all angles. or maybe try out a propane conversion for the v-8. i dont think it lacks power, its lacking fuel from the carb to the engine going up the hills because of the high angle. awesome job on the build though. epic is a good word to describe this, or LOUD!!! lol

Yes, we are wondering the same thing, about torque. That will be a heavy machine when loaded. Is the weakest link the track pins? I assume they are in good shape. But all of the power is transmitted through the driveline to pulling the track all the way around. Modern tanks have the sprocket in the rear, halving the distance?

Diesels are very common in the States, has been decades since gasoline engines where found in heavy duty trucks In medium duty trucks there's still a mix of diesel or gasoline. Short stroke big block V8 gasoline engines can get the job done. Mu guess this is gasoline & loud just for the fun of it.

An awesome build, and my hats off to you guys for having a vision and making it happen. I see what everyone is saying about the Diesel over the Gas Engine, but like you told them give me a Diesel and I'll put it in.

Really well done , how did you solve cooling issues? How big is the radiator and is it electric fan or belt/waterpump fan cooled? normally pulling at many RPMS will get enough air over it from a car moving forward.
@Beldar4214
12 жыл бұрын
I don't think it needs a diesel, the 454 seems to move it just fine. A 454 has good torque too. A diesel can't turn as any RPM as a gasser, so with a diesel he would lose out on speed.

Still look at this video every now and then. think you guys did an awesome job. Drove tanks, APC's and other military gear through the late 70's and 80's and it was no way as much fun as that looks. Thanks for some great relax time watching. It is fun watching guys have a lot of fun doing things engineers would have trouble working out h0w to design and do. Cheers. Love that V8 sound.

Looks like someone put a dump bed on an M6 high speed tractor. When my Dad worked in the motor pool, he'd always call those a "Waukesha" because that was the engine that powered it. The tractor itself was made by Allis-Chalmers.

I thank you guys for getting back to me. I based my assessment on the running gear. It was a quick view as I was just fascinated by the whole project. The comment about the motor is spot on. If you have a spare V8 petrol for the mod then go for it. Diesel would have been nice but this is way cooler. I spent many years in the Australian army and loved being in the armoured corps. I now work and teach heavy machinery operations and that is just awesome what you guys have done.
