I just want to say thank you for telling us your secret. I've been restoring tools for a while now but your videos have taught me how to get to the next level. Without a doubt the best plane restorations I've seen. Now I've got some work to do!

I just restored my first Stanley plane. It was a No. 5 type 19 and I gave it to my Father for Christmas 2017. He had told me a couple times toward the end of last year that he's always wanted a good quality Stanley plane and it so happens that I have a few. ;D It was a lot of work but my oh my is that thing gorgeous now. I was astounded at how stunning the grain was on the tote and knob. It almost resembled desert ironwood. I used all of the same materials that you use in your videos. I have a long way to go before I'm even close to your level, but I am learning a lot! Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge to the world of KZitem!

THANK YOU for sharing your secret to the alternative to japanning. I can’t wait to try it out. Went straight to Amazon and order everything. Your work is admirable and you deserve way more views and liked on this video. I can’t say thanks enough for sharing. Looking forward to watch more of your restorations videos and learning great techniques.

I like you methods. Very straight forward and simple. The Krylon and lacquer beats the labor intensive Japaning recipes that are out there with out the baking. Have my grandads 3, 4 & 5 Baileys. I'm going to follow your steps. Thanks for a great video.

My first 604 flea market find was broken in half at the throat and welded(fortunately a good job), and for ten bucks was a great find for a good user!!!

Great video series Keith and wow did she sound sweet making those shavings. I've watched a number of different folks restore hand planes on YT and I'm always tempted to tell them in the comments to watch how you do it. Thanks for sharing. Do you happen to have a Stanley No. 71 router in your pile? I'd love to see one restored.
