If you only have one chain whip you can use an oil filter wrench. I also wear a pair of old motorbike gloves with knuckle protectors :)

Yes you can. I demonstrated cassette removal with an automotive oil filter tool in the following video: kzitem.info/news/bejne/s42bypOaf56Cm5w You are right in that using such oil filter tool would make the process much easier. Thanks for your comment, Tony

What if when the lock ring is jammed and doesn't move in the first place? Using any oil or dissolved could be useful here?

We demonstrate several ways to remove the lockring in the following video (continue watching to the end): kzitem.info/news/bejne/s6-OlmSeiatzZmk If that fails, you might try the following: kzitem.info/news/bejne/s42bypOaf56Cm5w Let me know how you make out. Regards, Tony

I like the idea of using 2 whips to remove the "bite" of outer cogs into FH body - clever! Instead of then prying those outer cogs off with screwdriver, I wonder if it would work to tap soft wood wedged shims (available from any hardware store) between cogs?

Shims may well work. Will have to give it a try. Thanks for the comment and your idea. Regards, Tony
