My explorer 2013 has the same engine problem around 273000km. Your video was very helpful for me during the installation of my new engine. The only thing I made different way is the a/c lines. If you remove the steel bumper it's easy to get the rad with the a/c compressor attached on.

Great video! I just had my transaxle go out (infamous rough shift, grinding, burnt smell, etc) I'm looking to get what I need soon. This video will definitely be my 1st go to. Couple questions.... 1.) Did you think about going with a 3.5 turbo. Or a 3.7 interceptor ? (My thought process is if I'm doing all this work, step it up 🤔?) I personally have a blk 3.5l xlt with the paddle shifters and I'd bet its even more fun in sport mode with those turbos 😎 (i don't even know if any of that would swap or not) 2.) Anything to look out for doing a transaxle? Will I have to have the pcm/trans programmed ? Thanks ! Much appreciated on the video
@utility_tristin

The 3.5L and 3.7L engines are pretty much the same setup underneath the hood. I don't think the 3.5L is interchangeable to the EcoBoost engine. However I've seen a 3.5L Explorer swapped with a 3.7L Interceptor Utility engine.

I believe you could just fine and you would just need to raise it up higher. Most of the time if there is not alot of engine room depending on the vehicle I will remove the front . Not so much lifting it out as much as making it easier getting to and disconnecting everything. Either way you go about it I hope all goes smoothly. Thank you for watching.

You may want to consider using that sensor on the intake (it is the Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor). What that will do is work in tandem with the MAF to more precisely measure airflow into the engine.

The ti vct is the type of cam phasing the earlier 3.5l engine used i vct. I think you could just remove the engine by itself which is debateable how much less work it would be but its what best suits the individual. Hope this helps and thanks for watching.

The center hub on the torque converter is most likely stuck , rust etc. Have a pan ready and remove the tran back as far as you can . From there take a 2x4 and start hammering it loose , making sure to get a hand before it falls. I have had several of these lately it seems. Thanks for the feedback.

@s33therfan
3 жыл бұрын
The motor will be the same, the oil cooler won't matter as it can either be swapped or plugged. You might expect a few minor changes like mine with the cam sensors , coil packs , and that coolant pipe under the intake that I plugged. You can also verify the numbers on the engine block itself and they will be a match. Appreciate you watching.

@s33therfan

The tcm connector has a tab that locks the red connector. You have to push that part of the black tab down and pull the red connector back. I use a tiny flat screw driver or pick tool usually. Hope this helps.

@@s33therfan I tried to find it and I couldn't but since you said the tab is there I inserted a tiny screw driver just underneath the lever and voila I felt it moved. how hard would it be to remove just the transmission mine is a 2wd will it come out from the bottom or from up top ?
@s33therfan
3 жыл бұрын
It's not really hard just a different process. In a case like that I support the engine , while separating the transmission. There is room enough to separate the two. Then I will lift the body enough to roll the transmission out. It's debateable on which one is quicker but it is definitely less removal and disturbance which is always a plus. I find utilizing a couple of big jacks makes things much easier with raising and lowering. Anyways thank you for your question and I appreciate you watching.

What website do you get your engines off of?
@s33therfan
4 жыл бұрын
I get all my engines from ebay . Now there are other options but for me ebay is great. Firstly most of the engines state the odometer miles. Then you factor the difficulty of finding certain engines. And ebay offers a money back guarantee. Now I am not saying someone could not get a bad engine but its doubtful it would ever be intentional because its going to cost the seller not the buyer. So from the get go you know they are selling good running engines. Another thing I do is research the sellers feedback rating . Now with older vehicles its harder to find low miled engines but with the newer ones there are usually plenty to choose from and I strive for the lowest miles I can find. In most cases these engines can be delivered to your door by use of liftgate. Anyways thank you for the feedback and thanks for watching.

Mechanics don’t make insane money, what planet are you on, The stralerships may be charging 180-200 an hour for labor but the ASME master tech is getting flat rate pay of $60 MAYBE $70 an hour in some rare cases and if it takes longer than the book says well he makes less because you’re only getting the hours the book says the job takes.plus they are starting new lube techs and apprentices on at garbage rates. You are lucky to get 19-20 starting regardless of you’ve any experience wrenching on your own. And you need to bring all your own tools or start buying them. You’ll need at least $1000 worth of some decent cheap usb tools to get in the door and start doing oil changes and maybe breaks and other small tasks. Lawyers bill at $400 some even $1000 an hour and only minus their expenses. Doctors make even more if it’s a super exclusive surgeon. These days it takes at least $120k a year income to qualify for a mortgage on a median priced home.

An amazing great job man, and an awesome video. i don't know from where i should start, but i definitely need your guidance and advices. A big screw up by Ford dealer while servicing my new Ford explorer XLT, the car is still under Ford motors warranty, mileage 35K km ( Kilometers ) , full services history by Ford agency. last service in Jul 2018 was done by the same dealer from where the car was bought, got shipped by sea in a container, afterward, i used it for less then 1000 Km in a gap of 4 months to get a warning " low engine oil pressure " , Ford dealer in my country refused to deal with it, upon attempting to change the engine oil with the hope that the warning will clear itself , realized that in the last service, it was loaded with 10,5 liters of 5W20 engine oil instead of 5.7 liters. Both the dealer and Ford motors turned their back , since April 2019 until now the car is dead parked at home, and the cost of repair quotation of 20k USD. i am struggling to get it fixed due lack of parts of that model. any advice , and i will be glad if we can chat on WhatsApp, and god bless you man.
