I was diagnosed in my 40's with M.E. The rheumatologist told me that there was nothing that could be done other than learning to pace myself. I'm in my 70's now and to this day not one doctor has asked me how my condition is now - not once. I was just left to my own devices. I am much improved thankfully but cannot imagine your suffering being so young. I feel for you. Love your music Ren.

My story started in 2009. I am so grateful that I was already in my 40s. I am so grateful that my illness is not nearly as severe as Ren's. But damn I feel this video to my core. Is my day to day existence because of my depression, or do I keep falling into depression because my day to day existence is often exhausting for seemingly no reason? Years spent being told and being convinced it's the former. Years of lived experience convincing me it's the latter. Thanks REN, for the music, and the empathy. ❤

Of all the horrible things this world got wrong, you are one thing the world got right. It’s comforting in this day and age that souls like you exist. Because it’s easy to look around and think everything’s going to pot. That the younger generation’s checked-out and content to live vicariously through reality stars’ lives. And then a behemoth likes you bulldozes down the street with talent, and genius, and an ambassadorship to a very serious ailment. And I believe in people again. It is my belief that you have a rare gift of articulation that so many with your illness have desperately needed. And you’ve packaged it in brilliant music. I’m always in awe of your videos and artistic gifts. You were born for this.

The more people like you, people who have managed to get into the spotlight, who step up and speak out the better it will get for the rest of us. Well done. What’s worse with chronic illness, is that the illness itself often won’t kill you but instead cause daily lingering suffering, but that often leads to suicide. So for all intents and purposes, chronic illness IS fatal. There should be an urgency to find the root cause undiagnosed and elusive chronic illness, rather than simply just medicating and hoping for some stability, that’s just a bandaid. Because the consequence of getting it wrong and blowing patients off could be death anyway.

Hi Ren this is Phillips wife Susan. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I have been ill since having some flu like symptoms when I was seventeen in 1981. It took me 26 years to get a formal diagnosis of probably has Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I have been realising lately that on the whole I have been medically neglected for over 40 years in regard to the fluctuating energy impairment and cognitive issues I experience. Thank you for voicing your concerns about how people with chronic illness are treated. Speaking your truths to the world through your songs can change this. I am a bit of an activist at heart trying to raise awareness of these issues. I am grateful that you are managing to reach the people who may not be aware how much this area of health needs to be transformed. so many people are desperately needing better care than they currently receive. All the best with the tablets and that they have the end result your hoping for.

Took until my 40’s to get them to listen to me and give me the blood tests needed to diagnose my lifelong disabilities leading from a severe deficiency in Vitamin D… vital to keep in safe range of 50+; mine was 12.5 and told it was ‘normal’. I have no words. I'm speechless. I am also still going through a deep depression brought on by child abuse. However, it seems to me that my state of suffering is very small compared to yours. Over more than 20 years I took countless antidepressants whose side effects were destroying part of my neurocognitive area. It took many years for me to understand that the answer to my problem was not in mefications, but in me. I learned to relax and accept these circumstances, never giving up. As you say: this is an eternal dance. Today I feel fine, but I have some bad phases caused by the side effects accumulated over many years, and of course the pain that will never disappear from my subconscious. Today I am a much better human. I am very attentive to everyone who may be going through the same problems, trying to help. I wish you a speedy recovery. Everything will work out. Very soon you will be making good music again. You can't imagine how important your music has become and is helping many people with different problems to react and find hope in better days.

You are a magnificent artist but more than that you are getting well and deserve to because I know you will bring this flawed medical community to light you will get better and by doing so and being transparent will make change. So you have to remember you getting better will have such an impact on everyone still suffering. Your seriously the only one who can rally change that will have to come. You might not know it yet but your suffering has prepared you for a lifelong fight for the well-being of you and us. Your truly an angel and Im so happy you are getting and will keep getting well. You have a real idea of life because you have seen how ugly the world can be. I relate. I think that's why I love your art the way I do, Ren. I have medical/mental illnesses too. Some the same. I say this to everyone I meet I think, my best friend/love of my life/father to my child died almost 4 years ago. I still smile. I still am there for people. I still pray. I do miss him to the point where I cry a lot. And I am always in bed. I can't eat much. Blah blah blah ect....although, I I was on drugs and then methadone. Went to treatment (detox, all that). Then, I lost him. I have no control of that situation. Just like I lost the fight every day for years while the alcohol was killing my sick husband. I'm crying. Your not the only one who has been tortured by a hard past. I'm sorry for that. I wish and hope and pray you live your life to the fullest. Laugh the hardest and smile all the time! Because life gets lifey. And I'm totally obsessed with your music. God bless ❤, Becky

Prayers go to you for your recovery. The medical community mis diagnosed and experimented on my brother, and after almost three years of take these pills and we'll see you in a couple weeks. So after these months he was reduced to a quadriplegic. So they wanted to start treating him for lyme disease, He found a nuro surgeon who tested him once and then imediately operated ,,,twice, once in his neck to repair the nerve damage that was cutting off his lungs and heart and then his lower spine to hopefully restore his legs. My brother is fighting to come back, he now gets along with a stroller and is able to drive a little, but it takes all his effort and energy. So GOD Grant the strength and resolve to see it though. I just saw this and I wrote a big fucking novel of a response as to where the health system has let people with chronic illnesses/autoimmune disorders waste years of their life hoping, waiting, dealing with disappointment after disappointment and their life stories being turned into constant longing for things to return to the way they were, waiting for that miracle specialist that will finally end the suffering, hoping that you never lose hope because what else is left except for hope?! 6 to 12 months between each appointment just enough time to feel hopeful that this’ll be the one. Getting to an appointment and feel like you have to convince them it’s real. Having to believe there are good people out there. Have to keep faith in humanity. It has taken my youth, that’s a big part of the heart ache, the experiences that I missed, friends lost to time. In saying that, it is what it is and I still have hope that I can get my body to go as fast as my mind again. It’s just that I was a party girl, adhd party girl who loved enjoying life experiences spontaneously and impulsively. staying up dancing all night at clubs and playing pool at pubs and being in ecstasy at festivals 😉. A beer drinking free spirited soul that suddenly had her youth stolen/ taken away due to fucking chronic illness, and time slipping by. Now I’m 38. How? 15 years still only half answers leaving me in a state of confusion. It’s unfair. I am a mother too. Single mother, because who wants a sick partner, right?! Somehow through all this I managed to do something great for this world. My children. (Oops I wrote another novel fuck sorry) REN I just want to thank you for sharing your story. What you said about the health system and not understanding how or why this can bring down even the most mighty of us humans, truly hit home. I’ll finish by saying- through gritted teeth IT ALL CoMES down to time = money. 15 minutes for a specialist is not enough time to get to know me let alone help/save me. 15minutes?! It’s sickening. so money makes me human? The public system has taken it upon themselves to decide and choose either you get to live life and improve your health and happiness with finally having answers or you get to continue suffering mentally and physically for another 12 months. 15 minutes to decide my path. Gotta ❤ mother Fucking MONEY. ✌🏻❤️

This video is old but in a short time you have blossomed, right, and you have given millions of people faith and optimism even though they are themselves in complete darkness. Please, please, please be careful because you are walking out of your darkness and into the world and that world is crazy and will take time to get comfortable in and to find the balance in… You got this my boy and in 2-3 year you will be on every stage and in every home across the world and you will be victorious in your life. Thank you, REN X. Thank you for your kind words and your sad sad stories and your classical guitar and your Rap music, thank you for the sacrifice you endured and for the amazing celebrity your going to be, and thank you for being kind to million through it all. ❤

Get well soon brother. Love ur music. Keep up the fight. I sorta know how u feel. I was diagnosed with bladder cancer late and been living with a messed up bladder for over 5 years now. And finally a doc. Got it right and I will be in surgery soon for a new bladder. It’s hard when we get an illness. Keep on going my friend and maybe one day we will be rid of our illness. Gigantic fan of ur music. Ty and best wishes.

Hi Ren ❤ Fellow lymie here, sending lots of loving your way. I’m grateful for you, your music and for these check-ins. There needs to be more awareness about Lyme and your sharing will no doubt make an impact both helping people with lyme that feel so misunderstood or worse. And your blogs enable the people that love and care about someone w/ Lyme to get a glimpse of what it is like to live with this f’in disease. But perhaps most importantly by sharing you may reach the right person or people to change the trajectory of a lyme patient so that they do not get stuck in the bardo of illness with no diagnosis or proper care One day there will be better understanding of Lyme, and one day there will be a treatment and cure. Till then, stay strong and soft. Your music is a healing elixir, keep on keeping on ❤

Here's why. From my perch. Money over Life. Power of People. Man over Nature. Humans over God. The disconnect at this time is such that we have forgotten that we're all in it together, ALL, I mean. Pandora closing for a moment. Please contact customer service during office hours. Your battle is so epic, it's the nutshell version of the grand battle, and I think that (and your personality) 8s why soany of us are rooting with you. Thank you for bringing this up 🙏🦋
