Make sure to get it in writing, ESPECIALLY cash. If it's a cheque / check or an online cash transfer app, put LOAN on the memo line. And THINK about to whom you are loaning the money. What is their credit like? Have you known them to pay ANYONE back??? I loaned my friend money (cash), but I was renting from her, so I knew I could just take it out of my rent, which I did, telling her about it. I took a little out of my rent each month (about $30) until it was paid off (about $170) because I didn't want to wipe her out.

" Why did you say you'd pay her back her money " ? " She was bugging me for money " That doesn't make sense, a normal person would say " What money, I don't owe you any money " . The only way it makes sense is if she actually owed her money, the judge saw right through her like a pane of glass. Friendship of 18 years obviously doesn't mean that much to her if she stiffs you on a loan so losing THAT kind of friend is actually a good thing. A real friend won't stiff you on a loan and a better friend would never ask you for a loan.
