It's off the charts, Waynesville needs grade school teachers. My wife called and was offered a job Well then we seen home prices 😳😳🤤 Beautiful home's beautiful mountains then renting was our second opinion It would take anywhere from $4500-6000 Just to get into a place Or 30% down on a $250,000 = $75k just to get a crappy place! They don't need teachers that bad or they will have to bus them in and house them. If you can help out it would be greatly appreciated

I think it will depend on what's important to you and your family- proximity to amenities, work, hospitals, etc. As well as budget. Prices are higher in Asheville.

Rent is outrageous for the locals. How do they afford Asheville? Where do working class locals actually live/rent?

This is only a guess and from what I know from friends, but hospital or medical industry, some small businesses. Some people have roommates and/or have more than one job

@@livinginashevillenc I live in Robbinsville NC. 2 hours from Asheville. Was raised in these hills my whole life. I’m 17.anyways my mom used to work inside mission hospital in Asheville. Most of the people in Asheville make money from Medical work, real estate, entertainment, and owning businesses. And also marketing in the Federal states building in the heart of Asheville. But I’m just a small town boy from the Smokey Mountains 😂

So glad you outlined scams. Found a 2/2 house for $1,100 & the guy said he's deaf & can only communicate via text. Then he said he's renting house because he move to Texas. He gave his & his wife's full name & wanted our info. We'll his name is nowhere to be found on the parcel lookup county tax records. We put the breaks on that nonsense. Thank you soooo much scam averted 🙋👍

Plan AHEAD! Airbnbs are already getting booked. so plan now, don't wait till last minute. To avoid a a chance of sporadic and bad/winter weather, visit mid-end of april and on.

I’m new to renting and I was soooo close to getting scammed. Luckily I was talking also to a realtor and she told me it was a setup. This was in Norfolk Virginia. I am really interested in moving to Asheville, but the rental market there seems to be just as crazy as here! 😢

Our wonderful landlord had a very small place become available in August here in our nice neighborhood in West Asheville. He received 60+ applications day one. Asheville is on fire, and competition is insane. As a buyer or renter - you are not in the driver's seat. You need to understand that you are a supplicant. A typical 1,000 +- sq ft rental around here is in the vicinity of $2,000.

My current rent in San Diego is $3,000 for my condo. I just returned from Asheville last week and I really like the city and its surround areas. Planning on moving there next November. Don't worry Asheville, I'm bringing my business with me and I'll actually be able to employ people.
