This helpful video by Dr. Puru Dhawan is for Kidney Failure Patients and how Baking soda helps in healing in Kidney disease.
Sodium bicarbonate with chemical formula NaHCo3 is commonly known as Baking soda, it helps a lot in kidney disease as it slow downs the process of kidney failure.
When kidney suffers from kidney disease, the function of kidney slow downs which results of the accumulation of creatinine, urea, acid and other waste material in the body. Due to the accumulation of acid in the body, the pH of the blood falls.
Kidney failure patients are advised for sodium bicarbonate as it helps patients with kidney disease. The use of sodium bicarbonate can slow down the progression of kidney disease. Sodium bicarbonate and baking soda are identical chemically.
Because of the accumulation of acid in the body, the kidney function is affected further and it becomes important to slow down the process. A patient can take tablets of sodium bicarbonate and if the tablet is not available then a patient can take 1 spoon of baking powder in water and take it thrice a day. So, the level of pH is balanced can easily be maintained. It is also advised to patients with high blood pressure.
How creatinine, urea, and potassium can be managed in kidney failure disease. It can be done by following a proper diet and KFRT(Kidney Function Restoration Treatment) treatment at Sai Sanjivani.
Waste material like creatinine, urea, and acid can be managed in the body in two ways.
1. Diet
2. KFRT treatment
Creatinine levels in the body can be controlled by taking a low protein diet. Dairy products, meat, egg increases the level of creatinine as these contain high protein. Kidney failure patients are advised to take a low protein diet. Intake of protein varies from patient to patient.
Patients with a protein diet can take :
1. Moong Dal (without chilka)
2. Egg whites
As these two are absorbable protein and do not create too much amount of creatinine in the body.
Creatinine levels can also get increased due to vigorous exercises. So, it is advised to patients with kidney disease to avoid vigorous exercises like running, swimming and jogging. These exercises increase muscle metabolism and result in increase creatinine in the body. At Sai Sanjivani patients are advised for aerobic and yoga exercises like anulom, vilom kapalbhati, walk and yoga exercises.
Maintaining potassium level is also important for kidney patients and patients are advised for a low potassium diet. High potassium vegetables that are to be avoided by patients are rooty vegetables like potato, sweet potato, turnip, arbi, and beetroot. But patients can take radish carrot and onion. Leafy vegetables are also to be avoided by patients examples are mustard, spinach, mint, coriander, and cabbage.
Vegetables that are grown as a fruit can be eaten by patients like tomato, brinjal, lady finger, cucumber, bottle gourd, and round gourd. level of potassium can also be managed by leaching the low potassium vegetables.
Fruits are also an important part of any diet plan but patients with kidney disease are advised to avoid high potassium fruits like banana, kiwi, avocado, dates, dry fruits and citrus fruits. 1 cup of fruits are advised for the patients and it is strictly advised not to exceed it.
Cereal is another important element in the diet and cereals like wheat and rice can be taken by patients in any form.
Form of wheat are :
Bread
Cookie
Form of rice are :
1. Flattened rice (Poha)
2. steamed rice
3. Boiled rice
To increase the function of the body, at Sai Sanjivani we provide KFRT treatment that is Kidney function restoration treatment which will first work on the cause of kidney failure and secondly to increase the functioning of the kidney. When the kidney does not have any cause to damage the kidney, the kidney starts healing itself.
