God says: "If they belie you (O Muhammad)…"
You are not the only Prophet who was belied.
In fact, all the Prophets who
came before you were belied.
Then the verse reads:
"…so too were messengers belied before you…"
They are your exemplars. So don't be
sad or worry. But be patient. God says:
"So be patient with gracious patience.
God also says:
"O 'Prophet!' Tell the believers to forgive
those who 'do not fear Allah’s days.'"
God also says: "Do not give in to the disbelievers and
the hypocrites: ignore the harm they cause you…"
So if they hurt you, don't hurt them.
If they curse you, don’t curse them
If they want to assassinate you,
don’t think of assassinating them.
If they fight against you, forgive them.
On the day of the conquest of Mecca,
all the pagans and idolators were
under the might of the Prophet's sword. Yet, he ascended the steps of the Ka'ba and addressed them:
"What do you think I am going to do to you?"
At that moment, they were in their weakest and
most humiliated situation while he was in
his strongest and most powerful moment.
They answered: "You have been a gracious
brother and the son of a gracious brother."
He said: "Go, all of you are free."
They waged so many wars against him,
conspired to assassinate him
and mobilized their allies to uproot the Muslims.
How did the Prophet react against that?
A few days later, the battle of Hunayn
took place where Muslims got the greatest booties.
The Prophet distributed the booties
only to the poorest soldiers favoring
the new Muslims, who were his enemies,
with a bigger share of them.
This is what Islam is. It is to know
how to deal with your enemy. God says:
"Repel (evil) with what is best,…"
That is; repel the animosity of your enemy with
the highest morals, not with good ones.
What will be the result? The verse reads:
"…and you will see that the one you had mutual enmity with him will turn as if he were a close friend.
But this cannot be attained except by those
who are patient and who are truly fortunate."
Only the wise show patience and reap
the fruit. These are the fortunate.
Then the verse reads: "And if you are tempted
by Satan, then seek refuge with Allah…"
You shouldn't just say I seek refuge
in God from Satan.
When you are tempted, you should
resort to God's orders which are:
to be patient, overlook, avoid repaying
unkindness with unkindness, but to resort
to God's commandments and implement them.
If you do so, you'll be protected from Satan.
