The native thornforests of the Rio Grande Valley in Texas are home to over 500 bird species, 300 butterfly species and America's only population of the ocelot - an endangered, leopard-spotted cat. Only 10 percent of the original forests remain however, due to threats from urban sprawl, invasive species and climate change, but American Forests and its partners have a bold conservation plan to restore and conserve the wildlife, forests and ecosystem services of the Valley for future generations.
