great Vid! I was in your shop recently, visiting from Georgia. You refletched a bunch of arrows for me, introduced me to stabilizers and re did some string servings for me on my Halon 6. Highly recommend John for any work you need done on bow or arrows.

I’m relatively new to archery, as my military retirement treat to my self. My wife shocked me when she bought me a Halon 6 two years ago. This video is the best tutorial I’ve seen. Looking forward to more! Thanx

Great video! Lots of detail and information for anyone who either wants to work on their own bow or not. This guy is a real pro. I’ve seen hundreds of videos in 45 years of traditional and modern archery equipment. I’m here to tell you this guy shoots a great detailed video up close and personal and shows you in detail how to do things the right way. This guy is detail oriented that’s for sure and does a great job. Kudos to you for sharing such a nice video with everybody. God bless nicely done

I have alot of videos on you tube myself and I like the fact that you have step by step close ups in the video. That's how you teach someone. Great stuff.

great video!! really hard to find someone willing to put the time in to explain every little thing... I recently had bow halon 3 bow string come off because of getting a branch caught in it and I miserably put it back together today but I can tell timing and everything is off but now I think I can tackle it thanks

No problem. Hope you got it back together. Kelli is the driving force behind the details. She knows what questions to ask to get me to explain things. I do it so much, that I forget not everybody knows what I do.

I bought a Mathews Halon 6 less then month ago from a pro shop. it is brand new. The other day I noticed under my bottom cam pocket on my riser there is two small indentations. What would that be from, the bow press?
@cedarcountryarchery7529
6 жыл бұрын
It shouldn't be from the bow press. I would recommend taking it to a local shop to have it looked at.

Changed out a set of strings/cables and am having trouble getting the axel screws tighten back up. Any recommendations?
@jonearley4669
6 жыл бұрын
The only problem I have had with the axle screws is sometimes they will go in about a thread and then bind up. I pull them back out, wipe the threads with a cloth, then reinstall them. you can use two allen wrenches to tighten them one on either side of the axle. Do not over tighten the axle screws. They should just snug up against the limb side.
@2225thechad

Jon Earley that was exactly the issue, cleaned them up, spun in perfect

how do you combat peep twist with new string, even with the factory string splitting it down the middle,
@jonearley4669
5 жыл бұрын
James Hinson when I have the peep where I want it, and it has been served in, I will twist the string a half twist to line it up. After you shoot a hundred and fifty-ish times, the string will stabilize. During these 150-ish shots, the string will elongate a little. I usually try to twist the peep by hand before I draw during these first shots. After the string stabilizes, I’ll put a half twist in or out of the string to get it straight again.

How do you adjust cam lean with this yolk system?
@cedarcountryarchery7529
6 жыл бұрын
You can get the Mathews Top Hat Spacers from your local dealer. It shifts the cam right or left in the limb set to adjust lean. It's a great way to tune to stiff or weak spined arrows.

How do you know if you have the correct amount of twists in the floating yokes ? Or do they come from the factory preset ? I guess you could feel it and eyeball it to make them the same length or measure...??? Good video too BTW
@jonearley4669
6 жыл бұрын
On the Halon series, the yokes are twisted from the factory. Since they "float" on the attachment thingy, sorry, I don't remember what they are called, They will set themselves after a few shots. The only way to adjust the cam lean or center shot is with the Top Hat spacer kit from Mathew's.
@craigfugate6147

Jon Earley yeah I have a Halon 32 as well, I just noticed that when you installed them you said you have to make sure they're the same length. And yes I had to adjust my top hats and shift the cam left, it will shoot a bareshaft with a fletched at 40 yards now. Love this bow.

craig fugate Awesome tuning!!! I try to make sure the piece the yoke attaches to is in the middle of the yoke. I make sure the loops on the yoke aren’t twisted, then I install it.

Jon Earley 10/4. What custom set wpuld you recommend ? Zebra,vapor trail,winners choice ?
@jonearley4669
6 жыл бұрын
All of those are good options. I usually use Zebra, but we also carry Vapor Trail. They are both great strings, but being a Mathew's dealer, we usually order Zebra. Winner's Choice also makes great sets. If you order a Zebra Trophy set, they will almost always be within a few twists of being exactly right out of the box since they are part of Mathew's inc..

Quiver upside down? On the bottom?

I take the quiver off when I am shooting, but the bracket added a little weight to the bottom of the bow. I liked the way it balanced that way. I did it that way on my Triax as well. When the bracket was on the top of the bow, It made it feel a little more top heavy than I like.

What is that yellow thing that you attached on your arrow to see the level ? Thanks.
@cedarcountryarchery7529
6 жыл бұрын
It’s a level that attaches to the arrow to level the rest setting. First you level the bow, the level on the string, then put the level on the arrow to set the rest. Hope this helps & thanks for watching!!!
