Not at all about the buttons. This is something Retroid really needs to address/fix in future releases... If it's too loud, you can't play in bed near your partner. Or in a quiet environment in the living room even given certain situations. Other reviews mentioned this too about the annoying face button's clack & noise. Retroid needs to make quieter shoulder buttons(L1 & R1) and quieter face buttons. You are on point! I have that complaint on my RP2S, and it seems even worse here. Regression as you said. Hope the RP5 is somehow better with its plastic circle plate around the face buttons as opposed to glass. Sakura Retro Modding buttons are slightly quieter than stock for their older models, also more rounded & shorter travel distance(so they feel more comfortable to roll between, even if they feel smaller because of the rounded tops). So I imagine they might make even more difference in noise on something like the Mini or RP5 vs. RP4 or RP2S. I ordered an RP5 and am gonna put those Sakura RM buttons in like my 2S 👍 If they will work I shouldn't have to modify the keys/legs like I did on the 2S because the RP4 & RP5 are the same for button keying.

I dislike recessed sticks since using a rubber grip causes problems with that, but it's not as bad on the 2S as it is on the RP3. The Mini meanwhile is thicker and has that butt on the back.

Nice review. I passed on the Mini and got the GC colorway RP5 instead. Can't wait for that. Retroid just showed what the SFC colorway for the Mini looks like irl. That's the colorway for me if I want to get the Mini. I don't need it at all as I have quite a few retro emulation handhelds, but I might get one next year. A minor nitpick but I don't like that the screws are so visible on the device. Wish the screws were either recessed more in the shell or they were covered

To the Grand Poobah of Retro Handhelds: Bringing on Derek was an inspired choice. Judging by the overwhelming positivity of the other comments under this video and the prior ones, you already know that. I just wanted to add my voice to the chorus. To Derek: I want to thank you for including "Grid: Autosport" as part of your testing regimen. I've seen the numbers in regards to the percentage of Android users who spend money on Android games/apps and they aren't pretty. I'm doing my part though! I'm also a huge motorsports fan. So, you better believe that I own and enjoy "Grid: Autosport" on my phone. It's an amazing game and for Android handhelds being able to play it satisfactorily is a selling point to me. To Everyone: Winning Zu's Anbernic SP giveaway recently has changed my outlook on smaller handhelds. I used to be of the opinion that they were best suited for an auxiliary role. I now know better. The absolute best handheld for me is a moderately compact unit with video out; like the SP and the Retroid Mini. Such a setup is the best of both worlds; small where portability matters and big at home. I'm not especially interested in buying the Retroid Pocket 5; however; I'm very interested in the Mini because of its unique combination of small size + big capabilities. Derek's review did nothing to dissuade me. Instead he's only made me want it that much more. I don't even mind the fan noise. I spent years listening to the whirrrrrr, clunk, clunk, clunk, whirrrrr of a PSP UMD drive. I got this. I'll crank it up during "Ace Combat" to add extra jet fighter ambiance. To whomever read this far; I don't know why you wasted your time, but thanks. And thank you to Derek for making such a solid review. It's appreciated.
