This is a seldom-seen television commercial (2004) promoting the Revenge of The Mummy The Ride at Universal Studios Hollywood in Universal City, California.
During an interview with Quinton "Rampage" Jackson on the Joe Rogan podcast, he shared a pivotal moment in his "Born Again Christian" journey. Rampage recounted listening to the radio when a commercial for Revenge of The Mummy: The Ride aired. He heard the phrase "Your soul is mine," which he admitted "scared the sh*t out of me."
ABOUT:
Revenge of the Mummy: The Ride, also known as The Mummy Ride, comprises enclosed steel roller coasters inspired by the popular Mummy film franchise. These attractions are Universal Studios Florida, Universal Studios Hollywood, and Universal Studios Singapore. They utilize linear induction motors (LIMs) to propel riders from a complete stop to a maximum speed of 40 to 45 mph (64 to 72 km/h) within seconds. All Revenge of the Mummy roller coasters require a minimum passenger height of 48 inches (120 cm). While the two versions of the rideshare have the same track layout but differ in the storyline, the Universal Studios Hollywood attraction features an original layout and storyline. Manufactured by Premier Rides with track switches designed by Dynamic Structures, these attractions were themed by Universal Creative and ITEC Entertainment Corporation. Adirondack Studios contributed to certain unique elements found in the Singapore version.
HISTORY:
In 2002, Universal Parks & Resorts embarked on developing a dark ride based on the top-rated Mummy movie franchise. As part of this endeavor, Kongfrontation at Universal Studios Florida closed on September 8, 2002, followed by the closure of E.T. Adventure at Universal Studios Hollywood on March 14, 2003. On May 21, 2004, Revenge of the Mummy debuted at Universal Studios Florida, followed by its opening at Universal Studios Hollywood on June 25, 2004.
In December 2008, Resorts World Sentosa, which now encompasses Universal Studios Singapore, announced plans to construct a Revenge of the Mummy attraction at the park, scheduled to open in 2010. Unlike the previous installations, the Universal Studios Singapore version reportedly cost only $20 million instead of $40 million. On March 18, 2010, the ride was officially inaugurated to the public.
Revenge of the Mummy was also slated for inclusion at the proposed Universal Studios Dubailand theme park, specifically in the Legendary Heroes section. However, this plan has been put on indefinite hold as the Universal Studios Dubailand project has not progressed." ~ wikipedia.org
