Hello James. I request you to please make more videos on your way of reading books. How do you apply them to your life and your knowledge retention. Do you take notes? Highlight ? Your reading system etc.

thanks for the review, i listened to the audiobook when it originally came out and it reminded me of a lot of the things cant hurt me said. i usually feel myself slipping back into a comfortable lifestyle that doesnt help me grow but is easier to live in. then i just end up regretting a lot of the times where ive over-indulged in all my vices. when i find myself doing hard and uncomfortable things, it feels rewarding and gives me a greater sense of self. a book like this is a book that makes me realize that growth goes hand in hand with being uncomfortable, and i like the idea of suffering for a greater cause lol. i like the idea of pushing against all odds, and even though goggins seemingly takes it too far like you said, it disproves my stream of thoughts that tell me some things may not be possible, it actually helps me believe that pretty much anything is possible. its hard constantly having the drive to do things, but listening to goggins helps me reflect on my potential, and he pushes me a little further each time.

"Choose suffering in order to grow. Instead of choosing to follow emotions and comfort." I need to remind myself, that it is not only about choose to suffer once. But constantly. Again and again. And still also find a balance to selfcare and selflove in order not to become a bitter and hateful person. How do you do it, to stay so kind? Are you good at selfcare as well or do you not need that? I wonder if there is a realtion of commitment to suffer and age. Do we become more drawn to comfort with getting older? Or do we learn to be better at discipline. I'd like to find some rolemodels, who are older and still egaer to learn as much. Thx for yr inspirations!

The balance part is extremely essential. I'm speaking from experience. I used to be a study try-hard like James back when I discovered his channel in 2018 or so. Then towards the end of 2019 I just broke down, and have never been the same again. There have been periods when I did better, but it is never like before.

Hello James, I am from a hamlet State of India Sikkim, as boy raised by single mom, I had a father who was absent used to gamble and drink ; it took a toll. Now I realise it's the perception and your goal aligns with myself. Thank you for showing the way..

Audiobook version has some more deep after the Evolutions. To me, just the book felt less impactful than Cant Hurt Me (still it's very good), but I had to relisten to the podcasts after evolutions to grasp all the meaning of the Evolution. It took some time, but the lessons are very powerful once you apply them! Cant Hurt Me has a more straight approach to start the road of improvement, but this one sure is a way of getting much more of that once you realize!

In Can't Hurt Me, what pushed me over the edge from "This guy's a beast" to "This guy is just a garden-variety masochist" was when he got back from some army thing in the jungle and desperately wanted a donut and a glass of milk. The milk that came out of the machine was spoiled and chunky and disgusting, but he drank it anyway. That, in my mind, took him from someone enlightened, who understood that you have to suffer to achieve your goals, to someone who just hated themselves, but in a different way than they had in the past. I don't know why that particular thing flipped the switch for me, but it did. He could have just not drank the milk, but he did and I believe he made himself violently ill. Like, why?

Just read that part. I think he is implying that all the suffering from Ranger school far outways the terrible taste of the milk.
@RatoGetsRich

@@danieltimtam Same, I just got to that part but there's plenty of things in the book before that moment that show's he ain't normal lmao, I don't think most people run until they piss blood, shit themselves and get liver failure. You don't have to be as extreme as him to learn from him tho.

I skimmed through this video but what I got from the second book was taking that inspiration where you randomly in life decided run a marathon coz that’s what the first book did for many people. All they thought was ok stop being lazy go run a marathon. But the second book takes that marathon inspiration and expands it to all ventures as if everything is a marathon. I heard the part you couldn’t understand him to the point of injury, so you were thinking too much. He’s still alive ain’t he? You could be the opposite of him and still die early, can’t you? So it’s not even so much about death as it is about breaking mental barriers. Which still holds true from the first book into the second book. Your mind outsmarted you. The part in the book where PB was thinking too much to jump and goggins immediately checked her is what I’m talking about.

i wish i had the temperament and body to push myself like david goggins, i know it sounds whinny and its just effort. But theres obviously a genetic factor, being depressive bipolar makes everything harder, and during a time, couple months, pushed myself really hard my body got absolutely destroyed and wouldnt respond to me, i was very motivated in my mind but my body just wouldnt follow up, after pushing myself when my body told me to stop, later he made me pay for that. Altough this is not an excuse, i will keep fighting and trying, because its worth it
