Great job Ray and a great overview video. I have an AA sight on the way from Soldier of Fortune Militaria, I guess this is the modification they mention for the Denix. Do you need to groove the two front sight side posts to keep it secure? Any tips on exactly where and how to drill & pin the rear sight? Yours flips up so well. Thanks, Brett

Hi Brett, that's where I bought my sights S.O.F. the rear AA site if you remove small screw and drill end of the piece about 4mm from end with 1.5mm drill then use 1.5mm rod to join two parts.

@@RockinRAY Thanks for the lightning reply Ray. S.O.F. was a good choice then. :) Ok, about 4mm from the bottom through the thinner end part of the sight piece, 1.5mm bit. The main problem with these replicas is the fact they are made of a Zinc alloy which cannot be blued and oxidizes pretty quickly. When weathering it, you can scratch the paint off a bit and expose a shiny layer of metal underneath that looks like steel, but it soon turns dull and dark and it is clear that it is in fact not steel. Therefore, if you want to make this look as realistic as possible, I would recommend to first do all the small modifications you want like this guy did in order to add detail and moving parts ect. After that, strip all the paint off the gun and polish it with steel wool until it has a glossy finish. Finally, spray-paint on a 'gun-blue' finish with a high quality paint of your choice. It won't be perfect and it will lack weathering but it will definitely look better and more realistic than it does out of the box or after a standard weathering job. If you want it to look more used, you're probably going to have to get a bit artistic. You can add some physical damage like scratches and dents easily because zinc is soft. If you want shiny spots where the finish has rubbed off you're going to have to paint that on too because like I said, doing it manually may look good long enough for a photo shoot but it will quickly turn dull and if you just keep scratching away at it then eventually the replica will begin to deform.
@Setton_Exile

Well to protect it from oxidation after you scuff it a bit just add some Clear Coat to it it’ll show the scuff but prevent oxidation
