Yet to come was overwhelming When it first come out I thought why YTC and not Run bts. Even For youth was better in my opinion that time. Even after the festa video I had these thought that yes ytc lyrics wise fit the whole scenerio but still it was kind of weird(?) ,maybe experimental song would be a better word? Did they rush the process? I couldn't pin point the exact reason. Then I watch one yt reaction video of ytc which was released before festa video. He was a producer and he listen to the song, said it almost seem like they are trying to show their individual style in the song. *[edit: I assumed individual part while considering fiesta video as he said they are almost trying to fight over each other (fight:as in vocal fight)]* This statement hit me, it all made sense. Ytc was supposed to be liked that, it was planned it was not rushed as I initially thought. Just thought I should share my view on it. I would suggest you all to go back and listen to it again with this information.

@@wandering_thoughts Sorry for the late reply I might not be the best at explaining that as I have no musical background But this is the video I was referring kzitem.info/news/bejne/k6-Ht5mGfoWrmag [Mainly At 2:56 5:10 8:31] but I would suggest watching the full video. 5:54 he talked about how he think bts found their style like they went out individually to find their likes (and hobi did mentioned how he started working on his album since mots era to show his own work) but pandemic happened and he got more time to prepare. They Definetly developed a style Which hybe purposely highlighted in ytc to correlate it with members going solo and see at 3:58 how the song never seems as it peaked (that was on purpose too). So i really like the message they give through ytc to armys and people. It was perfect to select it as a main title track in that time

Honestly, for me YTC wasn't the best song at the beginning but as time passed by, i started to like it even more....it started sounding very uplifting to me For Youth is a song that I personally avoid because it always brings tears into my eyes so I just can't listen to it without tearing up And Run BTS will always be my fav release of this year for sure ^^ The solo albums were all sooo genius like 😳🤌 Like JITB is so hobi, Indigo is so Namjoon, Astronaut is soo Jin This, to me, proves that these guys are so particular and passionate with their art and i am so excited for what the other members have in store My You was kinda underwhelming for me but i am definitely not saying that I hate it , I LOVE it, specially the transitions from eng to korean but music wise it did not appeal to me as much as still with you did....but it can still be counted as one of those songs which make me feel happy and loved (given the meaning of the song and it's implications) Also the collabs were pretty decent and had their own Charms so I can't really choose one as the best but musically speaking, With You was my fav because it showed me a different side of Jimin ( i had never expected the song to turn out like that came as a bit of a surprise but in a good way 😊) Overall this was quite an experimental year for both BTS and ARMY but THEY DID NOT DISAPPOINT AT ALL ( LIKE THE KINGS THEY ARE) Hoping for the best for them in future 💜💜 P.s. : thank you for the video !!

Whatever happening in qatar is heart breaking but I would like to talk about 2 things- (Please I'm not talking here as a army) 1. When did hybe/bh signed contract that jungkook will be performing in qatar?(because alot was depended on that honesty, they couldn't have backed out just a few days before, too many people involve and even if we put that aside for now, I don't think qatar with all the protest happening in their country would be stupid enough to made a lose contract with hybe where hybe can easily back out, that clause maybe added in the name of world cup is important to qatar at that time to avoid suspicion) Nobody can know what is happening on the ground level in a country unless it came to the limelight and become global concern Example someone can perform here in India but never know what political schemes happening here by people in power. Literally every news channel is brought by govt. here. There are issue here too which are not publically shown(which are worse), But artists come and perform here because they are not aware.(i only made this comparison to highlight that contract can be made around this time where not much was known) like if someone want to do partnership with India, they will do it while being unaware of ground level issues here because India is the fastest growing developing country right now When all was this out, like what is happening in qatar, which was a few days before the starting, it was too late i don't think world cup would been boycotted. Because First those immigrants needed legal support but non of their respective country came to help, which is quite ridicules becoz here in India(don't know about others) you need Aadhar card(identification card) to make a passports those indian immigrants can easily be identified as Indians. Govt can help but no they are not helping. So comes my next point In a sense Jungkook performing there only helped the issue more, just check the statistics of people questioning qatar(from the announcements till the performance) The issue is starting to fade(almost faded) even when the world cup is still happening right now. So i guess *Negative PR is still Good* phase benefitted here. And I just know bts anti won't let this go, which is good(When it was all happening I was literally like yes do it make it more known). As much as I don't like the fact it is tarnishing jk image I want those immigrants to be free from Qatar. So I would let those haters talk more, heck I want them to talk more and army to fight and involve everyone(rightfully!) (Also because one way communication get die soon.) Because with involving jk, at the end the issue comes to everyone involve there including the many govt. All this is too complicated but I hope the best for those people working there either they got the rights or be able to go back to their countries.

I think I know what you mean, but the issues surrounding the world cup - the immigrant workers who were mistreated, got their passports taken away, died due to inhumane conditions - were known looong before the world cup started. This has been going on for years and years. Qatar has a long history of bringing workers from poor countries into theirs and essentially exploiting them (because their wages, while actually incredibly low, are still higher than those of the workers' home countries like Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan etc.). When the FIFA decided to let Qatar host the games, they should've known how many people would be exploited in order to build the stadiums, hotels, infrastructure etc. This wasn't a surprising turn of events.

@@wandering_thoughts I understand why you are disappointed, that's totally okay When I wrote all these I was not trying to prove you wrong. I just wanted to know to talk about few thing like an open discussion. i mentioned we have to know few things before speculating directly into something(for this it's hybe decision to let jungkook perform) we are not fully aware on what situations the contract was made. (As I know hybe did back out from nft deal when knowing that general public was against nft. They do listen to public opinions) And I did watched the documentary video that did this research on these immigrant.(They don't want anything other than their rights to be taken seriously, so they can be in a better situation. Most of them don't want to leave the job unless it's the last option where nothing can be changed, Ofcourse there are some who wants to just go back) People selective outrage are not much helping them. Just look at where are these people now that were being loud?? when the main issue was fifa as whole being conducted in qatar that led to all this(like you mention the issue has been on discussion for years but that just on a specific level where nothing was taken seriously, until the performance accountant happened). Fifa is still happening lets do something trend tags or do something else daily. It's just sad that those People just wanted hate on one particular person and call it a day. When I said I'm okay with them hating on jk I meant atleast they should keeping side with these immigrant till they atleast get some justice out of this. I know that the passport where taken away or fabricated that's why mentioned their respectively country should come out and help because they have data of identification. Govt. have some responsibility too how can they just ignore these peoples. That's why i said it's too complicated to understand how thing exactly happened around this world cup. Trust me, I'm not saying this as a fan but generally, As my father too think this is whole bs. (Who actually hates anything related to bts so that was surprising)

I'm vaguely aware of the exploitation of workers in some countries like Qatar, but I feel so lost 😅 was there a specific event that happened? What are we exactly talking about? I'd be grateful if you can explain it to me 😅 (sorry if it's something obvious I don't always keep up with news and stuff)

@@hibak8196 A little summary about Qatar: Qatar was gonna host the 2022 fifa world cup so they hire labour workers to built building/structure in the country. But they kept them in bad conditions basically exploited them(which I'm against too nobody should treat anyone like that) and when some workers oppressed they took their passport so can't go back and say something against qatar and continuously exploited them. People died because of living conditions there and qatar did all to hide it so the words don't go out. Because already qatar was being questioned like how they get to host the fifa World Cup.(there was indeed vote manipulation but it all came into limelight later after opening performance of jungkook). It was all qatar problem, basically a country issue where politics were heavily involved. The issue: From the start there were opposition of world cup being held in Qatar around the world. People were already against qatar helding world cup, they went more angry because of qatar rules & regulations and in that they came to know how workers being treated there. (The stadium was also built by those workers) Around the opening when jungkook performed it was not much revealed only thing that was revealed was workers being exploited. (People were speculating shakira and dualipa to perform at fifa too. Idk why) But shakira denied and Just 7-14 days before the fifa world cup dua lipa shared in her Instagram story that she is going to support her team from far and she stood against human right violation(something like that!) People assumed that dua lipa is boycotting fifa in Qatar(just note/ remember she was the only one who 'kinda' boycotting it) Amazing! right?? But there is more to unveil. Automatically all started hating jungkook for performing. It was all directed to him because he has big influence. Army called out dua lipa for being hypocrite because she is/was performing in arab where there were same issues. People hated army for defending jungkook. (When we were just trying to say these artist can't involve in country politics(Like dua is also not involving in other countires too), there must be opposite countries back support. Like in this case if India or those workers country ask for justice did something it would have been useful,easy to support by raise voice on them but neither was happening so jungkook can't just involve himself as a middleman between two countries when he himself was performing as third party because he wa neither connected to qatar nor football) (Also There is world expo 2030 issue too which south korea is trying to get for 2030 leading bts as an example for that. So there might be govt. Pressure on hybe and jungkook to not speak too. Because anyone can easily call out korea issue too and in end it will all come at, all countries have issues.) Now on dua lipa: some days later after performance it revealed(email leaked) that dua lipa father has been contacting qatar for a long time to let dua lipa perform in qatar World cup. Even after the worker issue revealed. They tried many time, It was clear that she didn't got the chance and with all opposition she instead shamed them in the end. If she would have got in she would happily performed. So remember the only person boycotting was not boycotting but being hypocrite. And despite all thing happening players played in Qatar, all country sent their team to qatar. FIFA let the World cup happen in Qatar. They all have huge influence too. Fifa itself is the biggest sport. Them as unity boycott could have done more than jungkook could ever had alone(he was in losing position either way) They- fifa and players, their country were directly connected. Jungkook could have said I'm boycotting and stay slient like dua lipa(Because we have seen idols tries to stay away from politics. S.Korean govt trying to involve bts in these expo thing, so bts choose to go to military) Overall he was just a performer invited there, they could have replace his performance either with tuka tuka or light up the sky performance which happened at end of world cup. So mainly one hugely targeted and held accountable was jungkook for being influential not fifa, not played or their country. because he was an easy target after dua lipa quote unquote fake boycott. Now, nobody remembers anything they just remember jungkook being greedy and performing at qatar. They have no problem with fifa and the players. I have been keeping an eye on this whole issue because some of my relatives were in Dubai and Saudi Arabia(my uncle,mom elder sibling too). Some working are in little good conditions, some just surviving. I know how it can be for the family. I do care about them but I absolutely hate these fake voke people. Because where were they after? Many big things got revealed while fifa was still being held in Qatar. But there was no voice for that. It was like they just wanted jungkook to Boycott by not performing and when it didn't happen they moved on and forgot about those workers and qatar doings. Sorry it was a long essay i know😅but I couldn't have explained it shortly or else my words can easily be twisted.

I agree with your opinions about PROOF for the most part. I was slammed for expressing my disappointment that they just re-released most of their songs (not even remastered versions). As for the new songs, I like them, run bts is badass, YTC is soft and this kind of song i like to listen when I'm in a certain mood (and in my personal opinion is kinda like LGO but better, i really like rapline verses in this song). For Youth - I love, it's probably amongst top10 my fave tracks. And I like the 3rd CD, to see the glimpse of how the song changes in the process. But the whole release is quite underwhelming in a way. To be honest I waited for a few days after JITB dropped because I was scared I wouldn't like it (as hope world isn't my favourite) and now I regret that immensely. It's a masterpiece, starting with the reference to greek mythology (I totally forgot that there was a part about hope - it was fun to relearn that). MORE is a bop - I'm a huge fan of heavy rock and metal music and this song made my two worlds collide. But my favourite song is equal sign - the chorus is just stuck in my head and I appreciate that he chose to speak about that. Indigo - another fantastic release imo. I considered mono to be the most intricate solo work of any of the members but indigo took it to the next level. I could write essays about how wonderful each song is but let's just say, I've been listening this album back to back everyday since it was released and it's getting better with each listen. It's really mature work and I can really relate to the message, being at similar point of life.

Once again I am amazed by amount of your work and energy you put in these video essays. Mostly I would say I agree with what you said. With Proof I remember I was also firstly kind of disappointed it's only going to be three new songs, but it changed quite quickly (for me even before the festa video). I remember, I first enjoyed the YTC more than Run BTS, but today after months I have to say Run BTS is the best one (so yeah, I understand why you don't want to rate Namjoon's album in this moment). When it comes to Hobi album, it's not really my taste of music, but I have to admit, it's a goof music and his performances and MVs were amazing. I like Equal sign the most. Namjoon's Indigo - to me it feels better every single time. It's perfect. Love both MVs, love the concept. Everything is so Namjoon. Ratings the songs - Yeah, I quite agree. I don't like the Snoop Dogg part, I just feel it doesn't fit there. I like Left and Right - I know it's funny pop song, but it works for me (but I don't really listen to it regularly). Dreamers - yes what you said (and yes to everything you wrote), Astronaut - it's nice goodbye from Jin, but musicialy I am not that thrilled. That That - yes the entrance, the dance! It's really fun MV and song. Sexy Nukim - hmm, probably best colab for me - I love the sound and vibe of the song. I loved the performance (so sexy!). It was just so different, but so interesting. Rush Hour - also very high for me. It's good, fun, interesting song :). I don't really listen to others. And yes - it's amazing they put some old songs on Spotify.

Hi!! When it comes to the songs the members chose for the Proof CD’s it helps to look at some of their Proof promotion, they each had a reason behind the solo songs and unit songs they chose & if you delve into the lyrics for the tracks it makes it really clear what they were trying to say, most of them were from MOTS:7 which was supposed to be there closing album before they originally planned to go on break. They put so many messages in MOTS:7 for us to help us understand their mindset and I think that’s exactly what the purpose of the MOTS:7 tracks were here too - BTS never do anything without meaning

The solo songs are necessary, because this is a lead in to Chapter 2 so they wanted to make that distinction which they have in all their full albums they have solo and unit songs along with OT7 because their individuality is what adds to their identity as a group too - You don’t see other kpop groups do this very often

See, that's part of the problem I have with it. Especially the second CD felt like they were limiting themselves to their last few eras. These songs had their place on these albums and they were comforting us then, but I don't think an anthology album should focus on the comfort aspect. Or on the last 2 years instead of 8. These messages wouldn't have disappeared with Proof being out, but it felt like they were putting too much emphasis on us instead of themselves, if that makes sense. I love how much they care for us, but the album should've focused more on their entire career, their talents, their path, their colors and not so heavily on us.

That's an interesting aspect and yes, I'm not against solos songs being part of Proof in general, but was an entire CD worth of unit/ solo songs really necessary? And if it was, a third CD with no official tracks but roughly produced demos?

I appreciate your sincerity and clear opinions, thank you so much for this video and sharing your perspective! I'd also love to know a few things about JK's performance in Qatar, and suspect there had to be some external influence, I don't think he's comparable to Dua Lipa though, their background differs completely and Korea is not the UK precisely... In essence I'd say Jung Kook is a young Korean artist and also an embassador or his country, and we basically have no idea about his political allegiance, we just adore his personality and what we know about him as a public figure; I can't really criticise him without knowing everything and I won't. For Youth isn’t about singing to the Youth lol, it’s for ARMY. For Youth are the last two words in the ARMY acronym, that entire song was dedicated to just ARMY
@wandering_thoughts
Жыл бұрын
Of course it's a song for ARMYs, but they didn't call it "For ARMY", but "For Youth" which is a nice callback to the beginning of their career when they were singing about the hardships the youth had to face in Korea. Also, the Most Beautiful Moment in Life series is also called "The Youth Trilogy". So I thought it was a nice reference to that era.
@rissaandnuha
Жыл бұрын
@@wandering_thoughts once again For Youth is the last part of the ARMY acronym & they’ve explicitly stated this song is for ARMY, the lyrics are so deeply intimate the only other interpretation i would have for that is their relationship to the idea of “Youth” which they’ve carried since HYYH & what that means to them, but that context of the song doesn’t necessarily fit to the central message imo, specific lyrics like “You’re the best friend for the rest of my life” “Because I’ll always come back, Baby don’t you worry, Because every trace of our footsteps will become a path”, the direct reference to 2!3! which is the very first official fan song for ARMY, & also a direct reference to Spring Day which is used as a fan song by then very often, & also HOME which is a fan song as well, the lyrics “my pride, my heaven, and love”, “would you reach your hand out to me” which is a lyrics you’ll see often in many of their fansongs as well, “waiting for you I’ll always be here”, i could go on but i don’t want to be too much lol I don’t think this song was made for just anybody but once again that is my opinion and it’s completely okay to have a difference in opinion that’s what makes it fun & interesting when analyzing the songs!
@wandering_thoughts

@@rissaandnuha I only said I think it was a nice easter egg and reference to an earlier era lol I agree it doesn't fit perfectly with the lyrics of this song, but it doesn't have to, and it can still function as a more nuanced title instead of "For ARMY", can't it? BTS was formed with the intent to be there for the youth. To be a bulletproof shield for young people and to sing about their struggles. So yes, again, I think it's a nice callback to the beginning of their career. And that their promise to be there for the youth still stands.
@rissaandnuha
Жыл бұрын
@@wandering_thoughts I see what you’re saying, I agree that promise does still stand & that’s why they gave ARMY the name that they did as well. Young Forever being sung by ARMY in the beginning is so symbolic of that too because you can look at the meaning of Young Forever in context of their journey & then the extra meaning to it that developed post 2018 between them and ARMY (ref: Jimins log talking about their 2018 struggle when they almost disbanded, Break the Silence, Wembley) The main purpose of this song though, is to be for ARMY again that’s just my opinion, it can serve many other purposes ofc! I see it being a really sweet love song to be played at weddings too lol

The meaning is in line with what BTS stands for...self-belief, hope, dreams, the only difference is the style of music. BTS have produced music that is more reggaeton style and here in this song there is a similar style with a middle Eastern vibe. Given the World Cup was held in Qatar, I think this fits. It's a song for the masses, thus incorporates various flavours and fusions. I personally would rank it higher...he did a tremendous job. I think the song is on-brand, I think the message is one that creates love across borders and the music matches that sentiment perfectly.

I totally see where you're coming from! How well the song did and still does shows just how many people connected with it and enjoyed it all around the world :) If it wasn't tied so closely to the world cup, I think I could like it more

@@wandering_thoughts yes very true. It being tied to the world cup/football in general is a shame. But I suppose it shines a light on Jungkook and BTS, allowing people who never would have found them to discover them so that's a plus. I saw another subscriber of yours mentioned the politics around it. I agree that it's a bit complicated, politics, football, etc. Thank goodness we know JK's heart and what he wanted to portray in the song! Can't wait for your next vid btw, all your vids are an eye opener (especially the empowering queen's one). I'm partial to a soothing German accent too :-) borahae

I don't know why it makes me a little sad that other ARMYs feel disappointed in Jungkook for his participation in the World Cup, obviously everyone is free to feel and express themselves as they want, please don't misunderstand me, it's just that I feel bad that the image and the message that BTS and JK have always given are tainted by this, I mean, I don't know him personally hahaha and maybe I'm speaking very subjectively, but I'm sure that neither he nor any of the other members support any of these bad things, on the contrary, I think that his intention was rather to take the opportunity to give a message of unity, love, peace and respect between countries and cultures on a platform as big as this event, I know that this message seems ironic given the context of Qatar and of course none of this is justified for any reason but still I believe that at least on Jungkook's part his participation was in good faith. I really like your videos, luv u and saludos desde México 🇲🇽💜✨

I agree, don't think he has bad intentions or agrees with Qatar's policies at all. But I still think it was wrong of him :/ But anyway, thank you so much for watching and commenting!

Please don’t take any of what I say the wrong way, I just feel as though if you are going to review the musical work for what they are there should be more consideration towards to meaning of the work as a whole & understanding each members role in the song or body as part of the puzzle that creates BTS. I don’t agree with a lot of your opinions about Proof but that’s the beauty of music: it’s subjective & each person will have their own interpretation. The reason why Proof had a completely different impact on me is because I recognize the significance of each song choice for the album. Beginning their first anthology with Born Singer is monumental because Born Singer represents them at their very core, you know how in Yet to Come’s lyrics they say that they’re going back to “1” & with their solo releases both Hobi & Joon have talked about how they’ve been trying to reignite their fire & figure out why they started this journey in the first place - Born Singer embodies that fully, that dream, that purpose, that dedication, that hunger to prove themselves that song represents the very core of who BTS is & that song was written in the days of their debut. It’s so very personal to both BTS & Army, once you can connect Born Singer to Sea and then to Yet to Come you’ll notice a whole different layer of meaning to the song. Beginning the album with Born Singer is huge, it’s like an oath for them to keep going. Going in order with the title tracks shows not only their growth and how they’ve changed over the years but also their versatility in a more condensed form. While I agree the school trilogy & Dark & Wild deserved more of a spotlight the reality of it is that it wouldn’t have made much sense to have a mix of (for lack of a better word) random songs in the anthology. Those title tracks represent each era, the School Trilogy being their beginnings, Danger being the TT for their first studio album, the HYYH songs speak for themselves they birthed a whole new world for Bangtan, I Need U being their first music show win, Burning Up (Fire) being the TT for their first Daesang win, Blood Sweat & Tears representing Wings the album where they got to show their individual colors more & gain traction in the west to where the push for the following albums was enormous, the infamous Top Social Artist award with BST is crazy too, Spring Day is SPRING DAY like that song will live on eternally, DNA their American TV debut & first million seller album, FAKE LOVE their TT for their first #1 album, IDOL which also lives on as an eternal BTS song they’ll never let go of IDOL for their concerts - they also sold out their first stadiums during IDOL era, BWL being the era where they had their first stadium tour & significant wins in the western music awards shows, first daesang sweeps too, ON representing MOTS:7 which calls back on their entire discography especially the school trilogy. Dynamite the first Hot 100 #1, Life Goes On the first Korean #1, Butter their record breaking #1, all of these songs hold their own significance once you can recognize the context of them. The boys called back to all of these eras during their festa promotions too, this was done deliberately. I know that an anthology is a good way to introduce people into the boys so ofc they won’t know all of that history from a quick listen through Proof but the fact that these were the songs chosen to represent them by THEMSELVES for their anthology speaks volumes. We have to recognize their intent rather than project our opinions on what we think would’ve been best. Each of the solo songs has its own significance too which is apparent if you know the meaning behind the MOTS:7 album and the messages they left for us there. Honestly the only question I had regarding the song choice was wondering why Black Swan wasn’t included because it fits into their narrative. It’s really important to consider the actual context of the songs & the members true intentions behind choosing them before trying to do a review because as we know BTS puts meaning into every single action they take & they spend a lot of time evaluating the calls the want to in regards to how they’re expressing themselves.

I didn’t even mention Dynamite being their first Grammy Nom, Butter being the second, and Yet to Come being a THIRD! Grammy nom! first for a korean song

I can see what they intended with the songs they put on the album and I still disagree with their picks. I don't doubt that the members put thought into their decisions, but I can still criticize it. Of course, the big title tracks should be included. I think they could've done it in more interesting way, but that's not my main issue. I know the meaning behind the songs on CD2 and why they picked them, but again, I would've picked a song like Dis-ease rather than Stay for example which showcases their talent much more, which discusses way more interesting topics. The songs they chose don't do their musical identity justice, in my opinion. And again, limiting themselves to B-sides that are solos or unit songs. And you mentioned a narrative, can I ask you how you would describe it? Because I find it hard to notice a story line or narrative that connects these track lists.

I totally agree with your opinion on Dreamers. Not only is Qatar's government trying to paint a good picture of themselves but they're not even using their own culture, they shot the music video in a persian(iranian) restaurant and now ARMYs think it's Qatar's culture and architecture which bugs be a lot. And specially with the things happening in my country (Iran) I was really disappointed to see him kind of on their side? I know he doesn't support their beliefs but you know... The Qatari government is an ally to the Islamic republic... and the staff of the stadium even help Iran's police arrest Iranians who show any signs of protest in the stadium. And it's just really sad to see most of ARMY acting like nothing is wrong with this situation... so thank you for being reasonable. I fully support Jungkook (he's my bias) and I'm happy for this achievement but I wish it wasn't connected to all these political shit...

Thank you for pointing that out! I didn't know they filmed the MV there :/ We really shouldn't sugar-coat how problematic the Qatari government is. Seeing what kind of groups and ideas they support is scary. I really hope you're staying safe! These days I'm thinking a lot about the Iranian people and I wish you all the best for your fight for freedom!
