Brave ride considering the traffic and hills. Great camera, thank you.

@@cyclnvancouver8060 I can't remember to be honest. Think it was 2003, or thereabouts, when I was last in Malta and spent most of the time around Valletta. I wasn't so much into my cycling back then

This is fantastic! As a Maltese person I must say that your pretty much the only person I know on the internet that has toured Malta by bike like this. I dont live in Malta anymore but its lovely to recognize so many parts of the country I call home here in this video. The Children at the end of the video are likely doing their first holy communion, its a BIG day in Malta as most people are catholic! I would like to ask, what bike are you using, and what bike would you suggest for a starter looking to upgrade from a claris road bike?

Thanks very much. I still have two more videos to put together. Hopefully you check those out as well. I think you are correct about the children. I had never seen anything like that before. I obviously saw all the churches (or lots of them) across the island and had some idea how religious the people there are. Staying so close to the Mosta Rotunda was fantastic. I loved sitting out, drinking my post-ride beer and listening to the bells ringing away. I am using a carbon fiber race bike I bought at MEC in 2014. I paid CDN$1700 for it so you can be sure it was an entry level bike. But, that bike has done wonders for me.

You saw two cyclists that day. What were the yellow ribbons on the ground around 15-min mark when you were on your way to involuntarily donate an organ?

Hey Kevin I saw a few cyclists that day actually. When I first stopped and shot some video of a beach, some guy rode past on a nice carbon bike. I didn't get any video of him. I saw a couple other cyclists riding west along the highway, but I think they got blocked out by a truck or something. I am not sure what that yellow stuff was. It reminded me of some inflatable thing I saw on Lonsdale in N Van. You could run water through it and create a slide.

There are very few trees on that island though there are some. There are no natural sources of fresh water in Malta. It is very a hot and dry place. The south and western parts of the country have more vegetation and a lot of farms. But, even there, there are not many trees. Three weeks before I went to Malta, I recorded cherry blossoms across Vancouver. I went from a rain forest to Malta. That was a real shock to my system. On my last night in the country, I was asked what did I think of the country. I told them it was difficult for since since I came from Vancouver. I showed them my video from April 17, 2024. They stared at the cherry blossoms in wonder.
