Aditya Venkat Chalamchala yea I'd love to see that. He touched on it a little bit in one of the modes with friends videos I think but a full deconstruction video would be pretty cool

Sean Daniel Not sure if this is a thing but I think it would be really cool to see a weekly lesson on keys and progressions. For example, once a week pick a Key and teach the scale and chords within the key and at the end make the main point of the lesson but a backing track of the progression and teach us a good way to improvise over the progression. Or perhaps a more advanced series for us intermediates looking to kick it up a notch and really challenge ourselves! P.S. Do you think getting a degree in music is a good way to go? I'm wanting to one day give guitar lessons to make an extra income and music is a real passion of mine, I'm wondering if getting a music degree would be worth it for becoming a teacher. Thanks again Sean, love your lessons and videos! Keep up the awesome work, you're a pleasure to learn from.

+Andromeda thanks so much for the idea. So I would never want to steer anyone away from a degree in music, but personally my degree is in something totally unrelated and not having a music degree has never stopped me from being successful as a teacher. Now I've been lucky enough to build a client list on my own and if you want to teach at a university that's a different story. But in my experience, of you know what you're talking about and are a good teacher that's all that matters :)

What exactly is happening when the first vocals come in and he's playing a D major chord? Does the song go from being D Dorian to D Mixolydian at that point?

I think you got into Ritchie's head pretty well. if you listen to any footage of him just screwing around with playing, you can hear the influence exactly as you described. I said it before, I'll say it again, when the tortured soul of a band leaves, so does the variable, the ingredient, that gives a band their, signature musicality. this is by far, my favorite, riff deconstruction and video yet. it was the Mario Bros video, but that was short lived. this was an instance where I think you got into the mind of the song writer really well

Oh no. Bon Jovi. That guy just always felt so fake to me. But then again, you're right. If you can just get beyond the cheesy symbolism of Bon Jovi, the music is pretty good. Studying music definitely helps one get past that prejudice. Good lesson.

Right on man, Bon Jovi isn't for everyone, but still good elements of music.
