Agreed, Jessie. Gets me every time. This remarkable scene is entirely created to emphasize Elton's loneliness and the idea that he wasn't rescued from the pool because people loved him but instead because no one could let the musical genius die. It's my favorite sequence in "Rocketman" because it's so beautifully acted and Dexter Fletcher did such a wonderful job constructing it. But it's a lot of emotional heavy weather too. Just great.

This is my favorite scene in the movie. The way they're carrying him around like a prop at the beginning. Like no one cares about him as a person, they just want to make sure he's still able to perform. And his fake smile as he gets ready to perform for the fans, relying on their adoration to replace the love he doesn't have in his personal life. The only thing I could do without is the blast-off at the end, it's a little too cheesy for me. Still love this scene though

I think the rocket part is great because it adds to how he remembers this part of his life: he doesn't It was a confusing mess for him as memories blended together so hey, why not launch him like a surface to air missle and hit a jet flying over a stadium in the middle of a city while only being a few hundred feet up...hmm

The best part about this song is the dichotomy between the beginning and end. it starts off quiet and introspective, sad and depressing, and the moment he puts on his smile to walk on stage, the song becomes loud, booming and uplifting. this scene is powerful and is probably one of my favorites in modern cinema i cried a lot because it really does a great job of showing the loneliness and depression that elton was feeling at this point in his life, him refusing to receive oxygen until they finally broke up forcing the treatment, being held up and dressed like a puppet while the doctors try to make him have a stable consciousness to the point that when he goes on stage elton has to fake a big smile because as they say the show must go on. and living this difficult moment without anyone by his side, without his family, without bernie oh the man that elton loves and said man claims to love him when he clearly shows love when elton produces millions of dollars he is sad and powerful and taron and everyone Those involved did a wonderful job.

Lately, especially the Best Actor has been filled with surprising nominations like Viggo Mortensen in Captain Fantastic, Denzel Washington in Roman J. Israel Esq, and Willem Dafoe in At Eternity’s Gate. But I don’t think there’s a chance Egerton will win especially after Rami Malek most recently won for playing Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody. Say what you will about Bohemian Rhapsody, it came out during the awards season and look what happened. I absolutely love this movie. The first time I watched it was on a cruise and they were showing a movie in the theater. My dad was a little iffy about me watching this, and at first he didn’t let me, but then he gave in and I got to watch it. SO glad I stayed. It was such a well-made movie and the day after that we watched it again! I couldn’t stop thinking about it! After we watched it for the second time, I went straight to KZitem and looked up “Rocketman” and I watched all of the videos I could find! Taron is so incredibly gifted and I’m so glad they chose him for this role. This has to be one of my favorite movies!

This scene reminds me of THE WALL movie, when Pink was almost dying for drugs and the entourage cure him just to keep the show going on :)

I like how the lyric he sings actually works in the context of the scene: "I'm not the man they think I am at home."

In some (small) way, a lot of us have had an experience similar to Elton’s. Deep down, we feel worthless, disgusted by ourselves. All while acting like everything is fine on the outside 1:03. I know, because it’s something I’ve been struggling with for awhile. We’re not alone.

This feels like a compressed, upbeat take on the "Comfortably Numb"/"In The Flesh" scenes from "The Wall"...

I like Queen more, but BR the movie was very safe, very superficial, teen/young adult-friendly. A cartoon of a biopic. FM's life was tragic despite his fame. The song "Don't stop me now" describes it perfectly. A man who is burning bright but only for a short time whose hedonism basically kills him. Who hides his identity from his parents until he dies because he believes he will never be accepted. Who is so secretive that there are many things we will never know. Instead, we got the "I pity your wife" joke which is funny until someone tells it for the 100th time. Oh and let's leave out his final years, that's such a drag. Obviously, a promotional vehicle for the band as they could use the money from a new generation of fans.
