It looks like the solo part at 4:37-4:41 isnt played exactly like the game wants you to play it (you dont make that small slide from 17 to 14 on the b string). Why is that? Im just asking because im really trying to learn this solo myself. Is your way easier, or is the game incorrect about this part? I know the game accepts notes played on different strings as long as the sound is the same, but i would be glad to hear your answer.
@halsb

That section is charted awkwardly. To me it made more sense and was a lot easier to stay in the typical pentatonic position. I used all the same notes that the game says to play; just in a different position.

Thanks for the reply. I found this video exactly because of this reason - trying to see how people are tackling this section. The section seems weird. Thanks very nice playing.

Been playing for 13+ years. The other question is a lot harder to answer because guitar playing has a lot of subtleties. If you're just talking about speed, then 2 to 3 years. If your talking about musicianship and finesse, the 13+ years (I still have a lot of things to work on)

@halsb

I don't play any customs because the quality isn't anywhere close to the official songs.
@Starnerdz
8 жыл бұрын
I understand that, some people have it in their heads that nobody can do as good as people with the "Official" tag. I will admit that there are a lot of poorly made cdlc's out there, however there are a lot which are done very well too. The "Official" is made by people, just like the customs are made by people, main difference is the "official" dlc's have been through quality assurance before releasing, and the custom dlc's have not, but are tested by the people who play them. There are many people who would disagree with you, if you are painting all cdlc's with a broad brush. It's kind of a tragedy cause you are a good player, and many of the official songs are not that impressive as many of the customs are.

Not being a dick here; but can someone please explain to me the point of RockSmith? I mean, it’s not like Guitar Hero, where you can play a song you’ve never heard of or a song you know but don’t actually never learned to play. In RockSmith, it feels like you have to know not only the song but also how to play it beforehand. So what’s the point, just play the song? It seems really complicated and a bit impossible to play for the first time with RockSmith. Why not just cover the song? Only explanation coming to my mind is that the point, combo, % etc system; when you cover a song by yourself nobody tells you how well you played, and RockSmith does that. Is there any other reason?
@halsb
3 жыл бұрын
That's pretty much why I play it. It also has adjustable difficulty, and the ability to slow down parts of songs in order to learn them. There are also lessons and technique games for beginners.

@@halsb oh didn’t know these. Learning process and technique games sounds pretty good actually. Thanks for the reply man!
@Zooropa_Station

It's entirely possible to sightread songs you've never heard before. Streamers do it all the time, afaik. Being familiar helps, of course. But unless it's a really tricky rhythmic pattern or there are just too many notes to parse (all out shred/prog or country string skipping), it's not that big of a deal. For example in this song the solo can be sightread to about 80-90% accuracy just by being used to the notation and chunking (memorization technique) to process familiar looking phrases easily. 4:38-4:41 is the only section that would need some dedicated time of repetition/memorization to sound passable, in my opinion.
@egeozdemir5094
2 жыл бұрын
@@Zooropa_Station Yeah, I do that too. When I’m too lazy to learn a song by ear I use tabs and just like you said, if it’s not a complete shred pattern or some prog thing I can learn it by following the tabs even if it’s the first time I’m playing the song. But my point was “why Rocksmith?” If you’re gonna sightread and learn it using tabs, why not just use tabs? If it’s about audible tabs that follow the song, there’s always Songsterr. I know the tabs are often just visual, but Songsterr is basically free Rocksmith. It can play tabs with rhythm and melody. I’ve never played Rocksmith but watching this, honestly it feels like it’s way harder to sightread. Position always changing, there are just 5-6 frets fixed on screen, and the Guitar Hero format with fret numbers *under* the chart doesn’t seem like it helps. When in tabs everything is just laid out on you, there are just numbers and their quantitations to follow. It seems easier imho. But like I said in the original comment; there’s no accuracy percentage or anything like that on Songsterr when you finish playing, so you just gotta know by yourself how well you played and that was the only logical reason that I could think of for Rocksmith. But the OP said there are also lessons and technique challenges so those can be reasons too.
