As a low budget SWL, I confess to envying you. What a treasure trove of equipment you have!

I remember looking at the Rockwell Collins SW receiver advert in an American book on CB SW and public service dated back to mid 1970 it was most likely an earlier model receiver

What would be interesting is to do the same test, with the FTDX-101DM receiver. The DNR on AM is supposedly the best in its class in getting rid of the background noise... The 851S1 came out and replaced the original 51S-1 receiver ... I have the 51S-1 receiver and it is relatively quiet but then it is a Tube Receiver, not solid state.. Some claim, that the worlds Quietest receiver of all time is a Collins R-390B.. But with all the super radios you own, the real test is comparison test that you bring all your viewers, and it is appreciated!!!! 🙂

Your WJ 8711 prob has the best signal recovery. Would be interesting to hear on that.

Thanks for your receiver demonstrations. I particularly like the government communication receivers. It's interesting to see the equipment that was used back in the 70's - 90's. Best wishes from the UK.
