Hello dear!! I'd put the Rode on medium and then the rest of the gain you have to set on the iPhone itself. Make a test while watching it, and give some room below the red markers to allow for extra noise around you and when you raise your voice and you should be fine :))))

Do you know if the wireless go 2 can be used with a shotgun mic and splitter to record the 3 channels.
@FlyEnri
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Phil ! I saw a video in which the guy used the Rode I with a shotgun and the splitter, no problem at all. I imagine it would work exactly the same with Rode II because the audio stream coming inside the splitter from the Rode is still only one, what comes from the Receiver, so it should be just fine. If you wanna be sure, I'd rent it out one day to check and see if the workflow is good! Let me know how it goes, very interesting idea !

@@ZachValentini When you got dual audio setup? Yeah, you can right click while on the Bin, Modify, Audio Channels, and then change to Mono and insert 2 channels. Be sure that each channel has L or R selected only. And only then drag it to your timeline. If you do it after inserting in the timeline it won't work. Yo should see now two separate audios with each channel and now you can apply different filters and treatment :))))

I’m finding that my audio is still going into the yellow on the rode receiver when using your settings on the a7iii and rode kit. Am I doing anything wrong or should I be watching the camera levels and. It the rode ones
@FlyEnri
3 жыл бұрын
Hi Phil! Usually what I get for that distance of the microphone is around -12dB on the camera levels. Normally I'm just leaving in medium, around 4 to 6 on the A7iii and I'm using a trick also: when the grid is active, the -12dB area is around the line of the thirds on the left, so about there I know it will sound good and in post I can still tweak a bit but minimally related to gain. How loud is yours? Maybe it's the microphone positioned too far?
@philpritchard8772

@@FlyEnri thanks for the tips the grid idea is great. Maybe where my mic is, I’ll test again today. Thank you

@@FlyEnri I have it set as you have medium on rode wireless 2, a7iii at 5 and at the higher part of the chest. Using the inbuilt mic and wind muff and also testing the rode go lav the audio is around -16-12 on average. Seems low in final cut. No clipping but is it wise to have to turn it up a lot to make it the right level after? Is -12 around the right level as a audio standard What is the best way to increase this volume as it seems much quieter then the volume on KZitem videos? Thanks in advance
@FlyEnri
3 жыл бұрын
Hi Phil! Yeah, if you got your normal talking voice around -10 to -12 it means you have room for when you talk louder or some noise come into play, so you never surpass the 0dB mark. Then for sending it over to KZitem you can set the max peaks to 0dB and check the waveform if it seems to be going around the -3 to -6 dB, that will probably make it sound loud enough without distorting.

Can I record directly to either transmitter since it has the MIC?
@FlyEnri
3 жыл бұрын
Exactly, you can record internally in each transmitter, without using any other lav mic or whatever else. Remember to set the way of recording before, because on one mode it records all the time, and on another it only records after connecting to the RX. So depending on how you wanna use it you'll have to choose the right setting :D

Can anyone help me? I recently purchased the RODE wireless GO II to use when Vlogging using my Iphone XR mobile device. When I made the purchase, the salesman told me he had sold out of the RODE SC15 USB-C to lightning cable and recommended me to buy any aftermarket cable with the same connections. I did that and when I connect the RODE device to my mobile the sound recordings are only captured through the phone microphone and not the RODE device. My question is: Do I need a genuine RODE cable or is this a simple setting that needs to be changed through my phone?? Many TIA :)
@FlyEnri
3 жыл бұрын
Hi Alejandro! I was checking here and it seems that if the cable has the right ports and it's MFI certified it should work for data transfer and also for recharging if you want. I couldn't find any specific config you'd have to do on the iPhone also... Let's see if someone else with iPhone trying to do the same can shed some light on it :)

Can the transmitter record by itself without the receiver?
@FlyEnri
3 жыл бұрын
Hi ! Yeah, there are two modes: Always and Backup. On Always, the moment you turn it on it's recording (internally of course), and on Backup it only begins to record when it connects to the RX. I leave it on backup because sometimes I'm still organizing things and I don't want the memory to be filling up with useless stuff, but if you intend to use the TX as a total standalone recorder, yeah you can do it :))))
