The Quintessential drummer..offshoot from Buddy Rich to Tony Williams to Steve Gadd and Billy Cobham to Dave Weckl, Dennis Chambers and Vinnie Colaiuta..next is him..and of course Tony Royster, Jr..I just wonder what skills the next generation of drummers would have..CHEERS!!

most important thing (besides groove): STAY RELAXED, do not tense muscles up for added speed because it will bite you in the ass one day and cause injury. Also, speed is only gained through staying relaxed.

This track sounds like it could have been on the older Tekken games.

Too many people attempt this style and don't play it as authentic as Ronald does. Like You're probly thinking Too many people as in "Gospel drummers" Ronald took the time to study where all these ideas came from (Vinnie Colaiuta,Dennis Chambers,Dave Weckl,Billy Cobham, etc.) where most guys just imitate what 1 drummer did....

this song is already bussy, it was not necessary to overplay it this way... this kid is amazing, but this was not musical at all... he didnt left one bar without making variations like there will be no tomorrow... Is he afraid that the public will leave the room if he didnt play 64ths with his chin? that was not necessary too... ok, you are on a drum festival, but you supposed to show your musicallity as well, not only your speed and your capacity as a drummer to ruin a song. IMAO

My thought is that most young drummers, if they have that kind of ability and it has been the currency for what makes a good drummer in their experience...then they're going to play that way. Truth is...in many circles, that's what people want to hear and see. I agree that a more mature and refined musical sensibility may have dictated a different approach. I doubt that he would play that song the same way when he's 45. I have to commend him, for whatever it meant for him to develop the amazing ability that he actually has. Tremendous. At the same time, I wouldn't play it that way either.

This drummer has his own way of playing. That’s your opinion since to you it wasn’t musical. But to me it sounds good in the way he plays it. You should definitely check out his album with thunder cut, he’s musical and the songs are amazing.

These are both good rebuttals to your point, but I think it can all be summed up by this: Allan Holdsworth hired him.
