Root canals are my least favorite procedures to do they are so boring. Placing implants are my favorite. I love assisting all on 4 surgeries. Dental assisting is such a fun and rewarding job. I have been doing it for over 20 yrs now and I love it.

I’m years late but you describe a root canal as boring. As a newbie I am CRYING because I don’t get the procedure at all and my practice doesn’t teach well 😖😖😖

my dentist is 31 and he used the torch on mine. it seemed kind of like he was trying to do it in a way where i couldn't tell what he was doing but i know what a torch sounds like and the end of the tool was glowing. i appreciated the attempt to avoid making me nervous though

Hi, i have a question. I had dental xrays done today. They had me stand in the spin around ur head xray thing. It was weird, they had me bite on a plastic peice with my front teeth & then they had me scoot my toes toward the machine while still standing & they said to stand at a slant with my toes off the floor. I thought it was weird but i didnt question it at the appointment. But now my front 2 top teeth r lose but they dont feel like they will fall out though. I thought about this all day & i wonder why they had my stand that way. What i dont understand is how thats right cause it seems like all my weight was held up my my front teeth. Maybe i am wrong but is this a normal or new practice? I dont get dental care often & i am out of the loop. I need honest answers. I do plan on haveing my mom call my dental office with me to just ask them. I just thought i would ask u since u were on my suggested vids list & it was on my mind as i was trying destract myself from all that stuck in my head. A roominate so its a things for me. But if u or anybody have any feedback feel free to send it my way. Just please be kind, thanks so much😊

Hi Star Platten, the x-ray they took for you is called an OPG which is very helpful because it shows both of your jaws and also your wisdom teeth etc. I think it’s either that you bit down so hard on it that it caused trauma for your teeth or that you have a gum disease and your teeth were already loose (the machine won’t make your teeth loose). I’m a dental assistant and this is what I think, however, keep searching and try to go back go to the dentist to ask them or even a different dentist. I hope that was helpful.

What is gutta percha and what does it do?
@brokenoathpodcast1704
3 жыл бұрын
Gutta percha is what fills the pulp chamber after the dentist has cleaned the pulp out. It remains in there in place of the pulp :) it basically takes up the space because you cannot leave it hollow. The tooth is already more prone to becoming brittle.

Please go to Endodontist if you need root canal. They are more up to date and more equipped than a general dentist to do it. I work for a Endodontist for 23 year you don't know how many patients we see that we have to retreat the root canal that a general dentist did or the started the root canal and it's calcified and now they don't know what to do or not equipped like an Endodontist.

This was perfect timing! We just learned about this in school this week :) This might be a dumb question but when you take the x-ray after putting on the cavit (temporary filling solution) do you keep the rubber dam in the mouth still while taking the x-ray?

Ok, old lady fricken. out here. First don't judge! Are wires left inside a tooth ??? I'm close to 70 yr. old. I have a tooth that rotted off. I thought there was a sharp edge so took needle nose pliers and pulled out 2 small wires 😳

Those are silver points that you removed I believe. You must of had an old root canal in that tooth, that was an old technique some dentist used. Instead of gutta percha,perchance, used silver points to fill the canal chamber. Please see your dentist or a root canal specialist they can guide you,if the tooth is still salvageable.
