LOVE LOVE LOVE Roger's Gardens. This video is informative, comprehensive, easy to follow. After 40 years of rose cultivation, it still taught me new things. Roger's is better than a shrink---you cannot have a bad day after a visit there.

Excellent video. Very thorough and shows each type of rose. I have found the best way to learn pruning is to watch as many different people as possible and listen to their reasoning and strategy.

Patricia, I am pleased that my video clarified rose pruning for you and I hope you are now or will be soon, enjoying the first beautiful blooms of the year. The dormant spray I like to use is a copper spray, called Liqui-Cop. It is made by a company called Monterey. A note of caution: when spraying near a light colored surface, cover it or be very careful: copper oxide is a lovely blue! (And thank you for the kind comment on my hair!) Kind regards, Lynn

Thank you, master, for this information for pruning roses..... I liked the method, as it is similar to the method of raising the sepals of fruit trees, where the middle of the tree is opened to let in the light and sun and ventilate the tree... This type of rose loves iron When the flowers do not grow in the growing season, iron must be added And upon completion of the pruning process, micron sulfur must be evil... 2.5 grams per liter of water Greetings to you from engineer Osama from Algeria

Enjoyed the good instruction and simplicity throughout. I have just pruned back my roses, none of which I planted, so their. age is undetermined. According to your instruction, the large old florabunda should be initially cut down to about 24” and then continue with more specific cuts. On this rose, the 24” level gets into a couple of very woody old canes that did produce strong flowering canes last season. The highest canes after my pruning are about 40 in or so. Cut them to 24 in? Not sure how low to go. Thank you!

I am in Indiana zone 5. I cover my roses in winter to protect them from bad freezes and hungry bunnies. It works well for me. When would it be better to strip the roses of leaves? When I put them to bed for the winter sleep or when I uncover them for the spring? Thank you for this video. It really helped me ALOT!!!🌹

super informative. I've been doing it wrong forever... I'm excited to get my climbing roses in check for a better blooming season... Next what kind of gloves do you have on while pulling those leaves off the cane???? Holy cow! My climbing roses act much like a deadly weapon.. I get poked and cut so bad.. Thanks again

Janet, thank you for the kind review! Those gloves are actually rose pruning gloves. They have a long gauntlet of thick leather - they do work very well to protect the arms. We have 2 or 3 styles at Roger's Gardens. Lynn

I have moved into a garden that was untended for 4 years. There's a splendid climbing rose that has not been pruned. Lovely roses when I arrived last summer and continued into winter. However it is very busy on top and almost tree like with no blooms lower down. It has one tree like centre and is 1.80cm high. How do I lower the blooms?

Silvia I moved to a home were there is about 30 year old rose bushes that were severely mutilated for years treated like weeds everytime the grew the would chopp them down to the base and got sprayed round up until finally I came to the rescue the first year I just let them be I had no idea what I was doing they grew about 10 feet hybrid teas and massive floribundas after two years of letting them be they are fully recovered and have the biggest roses on my street everyone now asks me how i fertilize my roses but funny thing is I don't just water and sunshine! This is the 3rd year and Iam going to do the pruning like in this video!! Hope it helps!
